WE ARE NEW YORK’S LAW SCHOOL DISABILITY LAW: FROM CRADLE TO GRAVE Join us for a workshop on the history of the evolution of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), followed by a presentation on the implications of subsequent Supreme Court decisions that interpreted the law. In addition, the workshop will present a detailed exploration of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Education Act and their interface with the IDEA. He has served as a consultant to the United States Congress on every reauthorization of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act since the law was passed in 1975. He is the author of numerous books, professional journal articles and research studies in the area of disability policy, education, rehabilitation, and community acquiescence. He holds a doctorate in Developmental Disabilities from Columbia University and an M.A. in Mental Disability Law from New York Law School. Ms. Carole Sevely is a disability rights advocate who assists people with disabilities in the New York City area. She is an expert on the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act and New York State Education Law. A former Wall Street Executive, she holds an MBA from Fordham University and an M.A. in Mental Disability Law from New York Law School.
