April/May 2014 2009 2006 RESEARCH ACTIVITIES My research activity is related to the implementation of Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) simulators aimed to support the Mars Advanced Radar for Subsurface and Ionosphere Sounding (MARSIS) and the Shallow Radar (SHARAD) data analysis. The implemented simulators allow to study both the phase distortions related to the propagation through the ionosphere and the degradation experienced by MARSIS and SHARAD signals during the sounding operations of the Martian crust. Starting from the obtained results, new ionosphere compensation approaches and data selection criteria have been proposed.
