THE UNIVERSITY OF VERMONT STAFF COUNCIL STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS Tuesday, December 4, 2012 12:05 pm – 1:30 pm Livak Ballroom, Davis Center COMPENSATION, BENEFITS AND BUDGET COMMITTEE OUTREACH, ASSESSMENT AND UNIVERSITY ENGAGEMENT COMMITTEE The Compensation, Benefits and Budget Committee (CBB) met on Thursday, November 8, 2012. The focus of the meeting was to review the list of issues compiled from the October meeting. During the discussion, three separate action groups were created: The Outreach, Assessment, & University Engagement Committee (Outreach) met on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 for its fourth meeting of the 2012-2013 Academic year. We discussed the changes to the committee membership and the impact on the schedule. Nursing Mothers and Parental Leave Access to Tuition Remission Understanding and Communicating the UVM Budget Process These groups will compile pertinent information and report back to the committee at the December meeting. The Committee will also enter into discussion with Richard Cate, Vice President of Finance & Enterprise Services during the December meeting. Questions will be collected in the interim to be posed to Richard Cate, so we may continue the ongoing conversation of where we are and how we can better understand and communicate the UVM budget itself. www.uvm.edu/budgetplanning/ The next meeting will take place on Thursday, December 13, 2012 from 10:30 am to 12 noon in Waterman 427A. We reviewed questions submitted by other committees and continued to revisit questions from previous meeting. Further discussion will continue at the next meeting as we refine the Survey. We also discussed the Ad Hoc Committee which is creating a Video to highlight Staff Council. The video is anticipated to be ready in early2013. Testimonial from Staff Council representatives may be needed. The next meeting will take place on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 from 1 pm to 2 pm in the Staff Council Conference Room, 305 Waterman. For more information about the Outreach committee please visit the website at http://www.uvm.edu/~stffcncl/?Page=oaue.html Page 1 of 2 PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT & OCCUPATIONAL ENVIRONMENT The Personal and Professional Development & Occupational Environment Committee (PPDOE) met on Tuesday, November 13th, 2012. Information was shared by Jeff Bukowski and Laurie Juskiewicz about a meeting that focused on updates to PeopleAdmin as it pertains to performance evaluations. Regarding the TobaccoFree Iniative, Gwen Landis sent questionnaire emails to other UVM governance bodies and expects to have replies to discuss at the next meeting. Staff Council Leadership also will meet with Barbara Johnson for a regularly scheduled meeting after she is a guest speaker at an SGA meeting where she will discuss the Tobacco-Free Initiative. The committee members then worked together to prioritize initiatives, state clear goals, and define timelines for the remaining topics: Performance Appraisals, HRS Learning Services, Mandatory Supervisor Training, Internationalization Initiatives, and Comprehensive Diversity Professional Development. The next meeting will take place on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 from 11:00 am to noon in the Spruce Room, #405 in the Davis Center. Prospect Street. Chair Karen Lemire called the meeting to order. The Minutes of the October 16 meeting were approved. Discussion followed on adding more tables to the Holiday Bazaar. Committee members were asked to continue to obtain more raffle items. Volunteers are still needed to ensure that the Holiday Bazaar is again a very successful event. The next meeting will be held on December 11, 2012 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. in 109 South Prospect Street.
