The Asia-Pacific Research and Training Network on Trade (ARTNeT), an initiative of UNESCAP and
the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Canada is an open regional network of
research and academic institutions specializing in international trade policy and facilitation issues.
Network members currently include 40 leading national trade research and academic institutions from
as many developing countries from East, South and South-East Asia and the Pacific. The Trade and
Investment Division of UNESCAP is the Secretariat of ARTNeT, and operates through a grant from
IDRC. WTO, as a core network partner, provides substantive and financial support to the network. Visit
www.artnetontrade.org for details.
The Bangladesh Foreign Trade Institute (BFTI) is a non-profit research and training institution built on
the concept of a public-private partnership (PPP) between the Ministry of Commerce (MoC), People's
Republic of Bangladesh and the private sector. It is devoted to research, training, policy advocacy and
supporting both the government and private sectors in business and trade related issues. The creation
of the BFTI as a PPP was a ground-breaking and pioneering initiative in Bangladesh. The Vision of the
BFTI is to develop as an internationally reputed institute for trade policy research, and a centre of
excellence for education and training of the highest standard on trade and business related subjects.
The Government of Bangladesh with the financial and technical assistance from the EU under the
Bangladesh Trade Policy Support Programme has recently taken initiative to further strengthening the
BFTI as a prime think tank of trade and economics of the country. Visit www.bfti.org.bd for details.
