Hybrid Materials and Nanocomposites Lecture Announcement Summer Term 2016 Prof. Dr. Guido Kickelbick
Anorganische Festkörperchemie Lecture Announcement Summer Term 2016 Hybrid Materials and Nanocomposites Basics, Synthesis, Applications Prof. Dr. Guido Kickelbick 2 SWS (3 CP) Date: Tuesdays starting with 19.04.2016, 10:00 (s.t.) – 12:00 Location: Seminar Room: Building C42, 1. Floor Modern applications in electronics, energy storage, pharmacy and medicine require completely new material properties, which can no longer be met with classical materials. The desired properties can be achieved only through innovative material combinations. Especially inorganic-organic hybrid materials and nanocomposites represent a rapidly growing class of materials, which allows providing the desired functionality by targeted chemical design. The lecture gives an interdisciplinary insight into this exciting field. Content: Fundamentals: Definitions and concepts, principles of construction of hybrid materials, interface determined materials, coatings, porosity, hierarchical structuring, nano building blocks Synthesis: Sol-gel process, nanoparticles, concepts of linking inorganic and organic units, in situ synthesis, mixing processes Applications: selected examples from the fields of coatings, electronics, lightweight, sensors, bio-materials, energy storage Target audience: Students of science and engineering master courses, PhD students
