Q&A for GEOPAK Project Manager Setup Webinar
Q&A for GEOPAK Project Manager Setup
Webinar
Q: What version microstation is this?
A: MicroStation V8i Select Series 2 version 08.11.07.443
Q: Will FDOT2010 for V8i still include FDOT Standard Level Filters?
A: Yes, but that option can be turned off.
Q: Why not disable the Admin Password Option?
A: GEOPAK does not provide for a way to disable this option. Setting the password is a personal
preference. The ECSO does not recommend its use, however, we do not restrict it either. It is not
recommended due to unforeseen situations where the work needs to be accessed but the one working
on the project is not available. This can create time delays in reproducing the runs and setup already
stored within Project Manager.
Q: What are each of the four buttons next to the tasks menu?
A: The first three, Icon Layout Mode, List Layout Mode and Panel Layout Mode, change the way the tool
icons appear in the Task Bar. The last icon, Collapse Group, toggles the Task Bar open and closed.
Q: How do you get the Task bar on the left side of the screen to display?
A: The task bar is part of the workspace configuration for FDOT2010 in MicroStation V8i. FDOT will be
releasing FDOT2010 later this Fall.
Q: Is V8i something that FDOT supports for us to use? When will we get this new version?
A: We will be releasing FDOT2010 for MicroStation V8i Select Series 2 when testing is complete later this
Fall. We hope that we will be ready to go sometime around the Florida Local Users Group (FLUG) in late
October.
Q: Is there a manual for V8i available?
A: Bentley has product help, and ECSO has training available online at the following URL:
http://www.dot.state.fl.us/ecso/main/fdotcaddtraining.shtm The ECSO training manuals are currently
for XM. The new versions supporting V8i will be posted as they are updated.
Q: Is there a limitation to the filename and path length for the location of the PRJ file?
A: There are sometimes limitations to the path length allowed in MicroStation variables. It is best to
keep this in mind when creating directories and file names.
Q: How do you get the Task - Set Project Manager Dialog Menu?
A: That comes with GEOPAK Select Series 2 for MicroStation V8i.
Q: Why not set the operator code the same for roadway, drainage, etc.? We use Operator Code = 30
for all drainage operators.
A: That is your preference. The Operator Code was designed to help you separate and designate your
work. You can use it any way you see fit and avoid "friendly fire" when working in a design squad or
group.
Q: How can I open the left window - GEOPAK Tools?
A: The task bar is part of the workspace configuration for FDOT2010 in MicroStation V8i. FDOT will be
releasing FDOT2010 later this Fall.
Q: Will that Task Menu auto sink too?
A: Yes. You do have the option to auto sink the Task Menu in MicroStation V8i.
Q: Will the FDOT CADD Training Manuals be updated for V8i?
A: Yes. We are in the process of doing so.
Q: Will V8I require any type of conversion for .dgns?
A: No. The DGN's are still in V8 format.
Q: Can all PRJ files be placed in one location on the server and point to another location where all of
the projects reside? (to minimize path lengths)
A: Yes. You will need to define locations to the project for your design files and GPK file in the project
manager runs and/or GEOPAK preferences.
