PGA Vice President Allen Wronowski
visits UNLV PGM Student Association
On March 18, the UNLV PGM Student Association proudly welcomed Allen Wronowski
as the guest speaker for the association’s
monthly meeting.
Mr. Wronowski has served as District 10 Director on the PGA Board of Directors and is
the PGA Director of Golf at Hillendale Country Club in Phoenix, Md., where he has
served since 1990. He has a distinguished
record of service to The PGA of America and
the Middle Atlantic PGA Section (MAPGA),
beginning with active involvement in Section
governance soon after being elected to membership in 1981. Mr. Wronowski is currently
Vice President of the PGA of America, and
will begin his Presidency in November of
2010.
UNLV PGM Student Association Vice President Lindsay Hoskins, President
Ben Wallis, and PGA of America Vice President Allen Wronowski
Mr. Wronowski’s visit was very enjoyable for all who attended. He shared many valuable experiences and
lessons from his life and career that will help our students along their own paths. The UNLV PGA Professional Golf Management Student Association would like to sincerely thank Mr. Wronowski for his visit.
Daniel Inocencio Wins Vardon Trophy
Harry Vardon was a professional golfer from
the 1890’s into the 1920’s. Vardon set many
records that still stand today including fourteen
consecutive wins and six career Open Championship victories. He was a member of the first
group of inductees into the World Golf Hall of
Fame. Each semester the Vardon Trophy is
awarded to the PGM student with the lowest
tournament scoring average. We are pleased to
announce the presentation of the Vardon Trophy to Daniel Inocencio for the Fall semester
of 2009.

President’s Corner
It is hard to believe that we are already half way through the 2009 Fall semester. The first part of the year has come and gone and I
am looking forward to continuing the path we are headed on. I couldn’t be more pleased with the effort put forth by not only the
Executive Board but by the entire Student Association . Everyone has been working hard at trying to make this the best year yet. So
far this year we have had many successful fundraising events and I cannot thank the Las Vegas golf community enough for their
support of our program. Without this support we would not be where we are now and we would not have the opportunity to hold the
type of events that we do.
In our first tournament at The Legacy Golf Club, Senior Andrew “Ace” Elliott fired an impressive round of 74 on a tough, windy day
to win the event. Then on September 27th, Freshman Daniel Inocencio shot 73 to capture his first career win at Las Vegas National
Golf Club.
I would also like to congratulate Andrew Elliott, Charlie Green, Brandon Johnson, Ryan Smith and
Patrick O’Hara for their excellent play in Florida during the Jones Cup. These five gentlemen represented the UNLV PGA Golf Management Program with class but also with great play by finishing in 6th place in the midst of tough competition.
It has been a great start to the year; however, we still have an eventful schedule ahead. On October
25th, we will be hosting our third tournament at Tuscany Golf Club and I am thrilled to announce
that on November 15th, our Fall Semester Major will be played at Spanish Trail Country Club. I
am proud of our students for the accomplishments they have already achieved thus far and look
forward to continuing this growth.
Thank you all for your support.
