THE LAS VEGAS MEN’S CHORUS was established in the early 1990’s by a small group of men looking to bring the choral sound of
men’s voices to the Las Vegas community. Our vision was and still is to become “the best men’s chorus in the state”. We have the
ability to be ambassadors of the community, producing quality music, reaching out to all areas of the Las Vegas community, and
gaining the respect of our peers. We produce at least two concerts per year, a Holiday concert and a Spring Concert.
We have performed for a variety of events and causes including Golden Rainbow, Las Vegas Prime Timers, Las Vegas Pride,
World AIDS Day, Gateway Arts Foundation, and many others. We were honored to be a part of Margaret Cho’s “Cho Dependent” tour
when she appeared in Las Vegas. We are blessed to have had extremely talented leadership and musical support. They help to make
us the best men’s chorus in the state! The Las Vegas Men’s Chorus rehearses on Sundays, 1:00-3:30 pm at Christ Church Episcopal,
2200 S. Maryland Parkway, Las Vegas (just north of Saraha Avenue). For further information, visit www.lvmenschorus.org.

The UNLV CHORAL ENSEMBLES enjoy a reputation for excellent performances throughout the southwest and beyond. The
choirs recently were praised for a concert described as “…glorious, yet disciplined. The choruses performed with unaffected charisma.”
Under the direction of David B. Weiller and Jocelyn K. Jensen, the choirs (University Concert Singers, Chamber Chorale, Varsity Men’s
Glee Club and Women’s Chorus) present several concerts annually on the university campus and in the greater Las Vegas community.
Tours have encompassed Nevada, California, Arizona, Utah and Colorado, as well as itineraries in Hawaii, New York, Mexico, and
Canada. Notable highlights include invited performances for the Music Educators National Conference (now known as the National
Association for Music Education) and the American Choral Directors Association, concerts with the world renowned Boston Pops
Esplanade Orchestra and a massed choir performance in New York City’s Carnegie Hall.
VARSITY MEN’S GLEE CLUB, founded in 1987, emphasizes great music making in an atmosphere of camaraderie with university
students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members. Varsity Men's Glee Club has performed for regional and national festivals
sponsored by Intercollegiate Men's Choruses and has also appeared at many university and civic events in Las Vegas. The Glee Club
rehearses on Tuesdays, 1:00-2:20 pm. For further information, contact UNLV Choral Studies, 702-895-3008, or visit

DAVID B. WEILLER, Associate Professor of Music, celebrates 31 years as Director of Choral Studies at UNLV. Professor Weiller
currently conducts the Concert Singers, Chamber Chorale and Varsity Men’s Glee Club, and he teaches courses in choral conducting,
literature and pedagogy. He is a past recipient of the UNLV William Morris Award for Excellence in Teaching, the UNLV Alumni
Association’s Distinguished Faculty Award, and the Teacher of the Year Award in the College of Fine Arts. Many of his former students
are successful music teachers across the country. Mr. Weiller maintains a full schedule as a clinician and adjudicator, and he plays an
active role in furthering quality choral performances throughout the Clark County School District and community. He currently serves as
a board member for the Western Division of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA). David Weiller has appeared as a guest
conductor of the Las Vegas Philharmonic and the Nevada Symphony Orchestra in major works for chorus and orchestra. During his
career he has conducted over sixty stage productions at the university and as a principal conductor for the College Light Opera
Company on Cape Cod, one of the most respected educational theatre companies in the country, where he conducts the Gilbert &
Sullivan canon, Viennese and early American operettas and Broadway classics.

THE SILVER STATESMEN is an all-volunteer chorus known for its thrilling, close harmonies and commitment to musical
excellence. The Silver Statesmen is chartered as the Las Vegas Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. Proud to perform and
preserve the unique sound of "barbershop" harmony, the Silver Statesmen also sings a broad repertoire of other musical styles. The
chorus provides singing, music and performance education opportunities, as well as youth harmony programs in communities within the
Las Vegas Valley and throughout Southern Nevada. Our mission is to share our passion for music with our community and enrich the
lives of our audiences and members. By striving for growth in our musical endeavors and our community outreach, we are constantly
on a path of progress. What makes all this possible? ... It's the music!
The Silver Statesmen rehearse on Thursday evenings, 7:00-10:00 pm at Good Samaritan Lutheran Church, 8425 W. Windmill
Lane, Las Vegas, 89113 (south of I-215 and east of Durango). For further information, visitwww.silverstatesmenbarbershopchorus.com.
JIM HALVORSON was hired as the director of the Silver Statesmen chorus in March of 2013. Jim has had three previous
positions as director of a barbershop chapter. Starting in 1996, he was the Director of the Minneapolis Commodores. In 1998, Jim
moved to Las Vegas and helped to charter the Las Vegas City of Lights chorus, where he served as director for 5 years. In 2005, Jim
took over directing the Celebrity City Chorus of Sweet Adelines International. After leaving in 2011 to spend time with family, Jim came
back to barbershop to join the merged chorus known as the Silver Statesmen.
Jim is a 32-year member of the Barbershop Harmony Society. In his years as a member he has competed in both chorus and
quartet contests, and he has won district quartet championships in two different districts. Jim is currently the primary arranger for his
current quartet, 95 North, 2012 Far Western District quartet champions. He is also sought out as a coach and clinician for barbershop
youth festivals in the southwest. Along the way, Jim earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Vocal Music Education from St. Olaf College in
Northfield, MN. When Jim is not ringing some good old barbershop chords, he works as the director of choirs at Cheyenne HS in North
Las Vegas, Nevada. This fall, Jim will take over the choral program at Shadow Ridge High School. Jim fills up his free time with his
lovely wife, Lyn, and his wonder twins, Laura and Larry.
