Originally from Carson City, Nevada, Jon Holloway holds a Bachelor of Music in music education from The University of Nevada, Reno, where he studied horn with John Lenz. Jon also holds a Master of Music in horn performance of New York University, where he studied with Joe Anderer. Currently, Jon resides in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he is pursuing a D.M.A. in horn performance under the guidance of Bill Bernatis. Jon has performed as part of Trailer Music Live, The Nevada Chamber Opera, Nevada Opera Theater, The Las Vegas Philharmonic, and One World Symphony in New York City. He has a love for musical theater performance on both Horn and Bass and has performed in both Nevada and New York City in productions of Into The Woods, Sweeney Todd, Evita, Hello Again, Fame, Children of Eden, Die Fledermaus, Joseph…, Guys and Dolls, 42nd Street, and RENT, among others. Jon was a marching member of The Sacramento Mandarins Drum and Bugle Corps from 2006-2008 where he served as a soloist, section leader and horn sergeant. He was awarded the 2008 DCI mellophone individual world championship by a margin of nearly 10 points. Jon leads an active teaching career as a horn teacher as well as a marching music instructor. He has held brass caption head jobs at Carson High School in Carson City, NV, Damonte Ranch High School and McQueen High School in Reno, NV where he also assisted with the visual and color guard program. He also worked closely with the Grammy Award-winning performing arts department at Green Valley High School in Henderson, NV. Jon taught three years with the Mandarins Drum and Bugle Corps, where he served as a mellophone tech in 2009. In 2010 and 2011, he was the assistant brass caption head. In 2014, he began his relationship with The Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps, where as a mellophone technician, the corps regained its finalist position. He has held an adjunct teaching position at NYU Steinhardt School, teaching non-major students in the area of Horn. Jon now holds a position at UNLV teaching music appreciation. A proud member of The International Horn Society, College Music Society, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity of America, Jon is a Conn-Selmer Performing Artist in the areas of King Marching Brass and Holton Horns.
