 MATTHEW FFORDE Matthew Fforde MA D.Phil. (Oxon.), born in London in 1957, was an open scholar in modern history at Corpus Christi College, Oxford, 1975‐78, where he took a first class degree. He then studied at Nuffield College, Oxford, and was awarded a D.Phil. in modern history. He currently teaches contemporary history at LUMSA, a Catholic university in Rome. Among his publications: Conservatism and Collectivism 1886‐1914 (Edinburgh University Press, 1990); Storia della Gran Bretagna 1832‐2002 (Laterza, 2002); Desocialisation. The Crisis of Post‐Modernity (Gabriel, 2009); and Storia della cultura inglese (Cantagalli, 2009), a collection of his articles for the Vatican newspaper, L'Osservatore Romano. The Italian edition of Desocialisation. The Crisis of Post‐Modernity, published by Cantagalli of Sienna in 2005, was awarded the Capri‐San Michele Prize in 2006. Thus work has been published in Slovak by LUC of Bratislava and will shortly be published in French by Editions du Cerf. XIII Congreso Católicos y Vida Pública
