ACCOMMODATION IN ROME
1. Convents/Pensioni run by religious communities
“Convents” in Rome are similar to B&B’s in Ireland / UK. They are run as guesthouses
for pilgrims. Some of them expect the guests to be in by a certain hour.
You will need to check for more up to date prices at the time of booking. Check that
they accept credit cards (some do, some do not). Price includes breakfast, except
where indicated. Do not expect to be filled for the day with the breakfast you will get.
The first two are right across the street from the Vatican. Some give the price range
as they vary depending on the time of the year (low and high season, Easter, August
(lower), Christmas etc.). Check the exact price for your dates before booking.

This is very close to the Suore di Regina Pacis. There are buses on the main
street going to Vatican (one direction) or to Termini Station (opposite
direction). Credit cards accepted.
You take the train direct from Rome Fiumicino (Leonardo da Vinci) Airport to
Termini and then ‘H’ bus from the station. Get off the ‘H’ bus at its terminus
(in Via Capasso) and walk across the street and down side street to it. If you
choose this place I can send you a map I’ve made for people to find it. It is
small but quaint! Its advantage over Regina Pacis (n° 6 below) is breakfast
and no curfew.
‘H’ bus runs from 05.30 until midnight. There is also a bus service – 98 –
from outside here direct to the Vatican. Prices vary between Low and High
season.



Description
Price varies depending on the number of nights you stay. No breakfast.
This is the best-priced place I use. Disadvantage is that it has a strict curfew
(11 pm). For breakfast, you must go across the street to a bar. Thus, not a
place for young people or those who like to have a ‘night out’!
It has buses right outside going to Vatican (one direction) or to Termini
Station (opposite direction). You take the train direct from Rome Fiumicino
(Leonardo da Vinci) Airport to Termini and then ‘H’ bus from the station
directly to front gate of Regina Pacis. It is the last stop before the bus
terminus (in via Capasso) so if you miss it you have only to walk back two

Description
One of my recommendations for wedding groups. The Hotel is ‘old-style’ but
beautiful and the staff are very friendly, most speaking English. There is a
metro station directly in front of the hotel so it is good for access. It caters for
wedding receptions also though I favour the use of some Restaurants. Check on
their web site for special deals and for prices as they vary as well as check
other accommodation providers who list them. Shop around on this one. Their
own www is not always the best prices.


A young couple I know found this on the website LastMinute.com and were
more than happy with it. I have also used it for several “SMA families”. Metro is
5 minutes’ walk from it (same Metro station as n° 5 Hotel). From there it is
three stops to Vatican museum and St Peter’s just beyond the Museum. Good
full breakfast. Seems there are good and varying prices for it on the different

which is best.

It is 2 minutes’ walk from the Metro station and there are many bus routes
going past the door, including one to the Vatican (10 minutes on bus). The last
group I had here were not happy with their rooms on the fourth floor (strange
smell) but after two days were moved to the first floor, where everything was

This is a comfortable hotel, with four blocks separate from the main building
(Reception, bar, restaurant). It is a former Religious House so the rooms are
very small. The last time I had people there (Nov 05) the rooms they were in
need of painting. Bus service right outside the gate to the Vatican. Good
restaurant (La Nocetta) nearby, if you do not want to travel into town or
Trastevere area.
