SALONE INTERNAZIONALE DEL MOBILE 2014
Il filo conduttore di questa edizione 2014 del Salone del Mobile di
Milano, frutto della propensione alla ricerca che da sempre costituisce un importante punto di forza del mondo Baxter, è un’attenta analisi degli anni ’50 che hanno regalato la migliore rappresentazione
dello stile italiano caratterizzato da un’ondata creativa che unisce
l’eleganza delle linee alle esigenze funzionali.
Sfumature di colore come il rosso rubino, il verde salvia e il giallo zafferano degli imbottiti diventano le nuances predominanti, enfatizzate e valorizzate da accostamenti con materiali come l’ottone dei tavolini e delle lampade e la canapa della carta da parati e dei tappeti.
Ambienti diversi, intimi e raccolti che esprimono l’eleganza e la raffinatezza di un lusso domestico, assolutamente non sfacciato, ma
esaltato dall’utilizzo di pelli nuove che vanno ad ampliare e arricchire la collezione Baxter. Un’unione sancita da sensibilità, colori,
materia e design.
Ecco come, attraverso una connotazione marcatamente evocativa
degli anni ’50, gli ambienti regalano ai loro ospiti una sorta di unione
tra passato e presente. Cenni del passato che si fondono in un ambiente contemporaneo e moderno, creando così un’atmosfera eclettica caratterizzata da toni opachi, morbidi ed accoglienti. Una casa,
dove i materiali utilizzati e i pezzi che la popolano sembrano provenire da diverse parti del mondo, come solo un collezionista d’arte sa
fare esaltando l’autenticità ed il vero valore delle materie prime.
I nuovi progetti sono stati affidati a designer come Paola Navone, Roberto Lazzeroni, Matteo Thun e Antonio Rodriguez, Draga Obradovic
e Aurel K. Basedow. Accanto a questi nomi, con i quali Baxter collabora da sempre, nasce la preziosa collaborazione con l’architetto e
designer Vincenzo De Cotiis.
INTERNATIONAL FURNITURE FAIR 2014
The theme of the 2014 Milan Salone del Mobile, the result of a
focus on research that has always been one of the key strengths
of Baxter’s world, is a careful analysis of the 1950s, a period that
brought the very best out of Italian style with a wave of creativity
that combined elegant lines with functional requirements.
Shades of colour such as the ruby red, sage green and saffron
yellow of the upholstered pieces become the predominant tones,
emphasised and showcased when paired with materials such as
brass, for the small tables and lamps, and hemp for the wall
paper and rugs.
The different settings are intimate and cosy; they express the
elegance and sophistication of a luxury home, one that is certainly
not brash, but enhanced by the use of new types of leather that
expand and enrich the Baxter collection. This union is sanctioned
by sensitivity, colours, material and design.
Thanks to a markedly evocative 1950s undertone, these settings
treat their guests to a kind of union between past and present.
Hints of the past that blend into a contemporary and modern
setting, creating an eclectic feel characterised by opaque, soft and
comfortable tones. This is a home where the materials used and
the pieces that fill it seem to come from different parts of the world,
as only a collector of art would know how to do, bringing out the
authenticity and true value of the raw materials.
These new projects have been commissioned from designers such
as Paola Navone, Roberto Lazzeroni, Matteo Thun and Antonio
Rodriguez, Draga Obradovic and Aurel K. Basedow. Alongside these
names with which Baxter has long been collaborating comes a new
and important partnership with the architect and designer Vincenzo
De Cotiis.

DESIGN YOUR LEATHER
Trasferire tutto quello che è solito attribuire al tessuto alla pelle è il risultato di una
lavorazione unica. La pelle, reinterpretata con texture ispirate ai disegni dell’archivio tessile
degli anni ’50, viene serigrafata a mano con il metodo della stampa a quadro con pigmenti
all'acqua e finita con resine e cere. Le grafiche rievocano i grandi classici del tessuto del
mondo della cravatteria con lavorazioni tipiche del telaio jacquard: spina di pesce, pied de
poule, punta a spillo, principe di Galles, etc.

di pelle che ben si prestano a questa particolare lavorazione:

Transferring to leather all that is usually attributed to fabric is the result of a unique
manufacturing. The leather, re-interpreted with textures inspired by the designs of the textile
archives of the 50’s, is hand-serigraphied, with the method of pattern print, with water
pigments and finished with resins and waxes. Graphics recall the great fabric classics of the
tie-field, with typical manufactures of the jacquard loom: herringbone, pied de poule,
needle tip and Prince of Wales, etc.

Eventuali imperfezioni della pergamena sono segni caratteristici della qualità e della
lavorazione artigianale della stessa. La pergamena da noi impiegata è pelle naturale di
capra, e la sua preziosità è data proprio dal fatto che nessuna pelle è esattamente uguale
ad un’altra. Le venature e il colore della pergamena possono variare, ed ogni pezzo si
può quindi considerare “unico”. La lavorazione a cui sottoponiamo poi la pelle, inclusa
la colorazione, si svolge artigianalmente rispettando il più possibile le caratteristiche
originali della pelle, per evitare di rendere omogeneo il colore e di perdere l’effetto visivo
del materiale. La varietà di effetti e di colori rappresentano l’unicità della pergamena e ne
denotano la preziosa autenticità. Anche la presenza di segni sulla pelle, come cicatrici o
piccole macchie, è da considerarsi come autentica caratteristica dell’animale.
Il mobile rivestito in pergamena viene infine protetto grazie alla finitura lucida o opaca, che
lo rende resistente, impermeabile, e facile da pulire.

respecting as much as possible the original features of leather, in order to avoid to make the
colour homogeneous and to lose the visual effect of the material. Effects and colours variety
represent the uniqueness of the parchment and reveal its precious authenticity. Even the
presence of some marks like scars or small spots, has to be considered as an authentic
feature of the animal.
The cabinet covered by parchment is finally protected thanks to the polished or matt finish,
that makes it resistant, impermeable and easy to clean.
