Personal skills and Dr. Federico Renda develops geometrically exact models and simulations of mobile continuous
competences systems based on the theory of differential geometry and geometrical mechanics. He acquired these
skills in the context of soft robotics and applied his models to the passive elastic structures of soft
robots driven by cables. His research interests include the study of the self-organizing properties of
continuous spatially extended dynamical systems with application to 3D printed artifact, programmable
matter and synthetic biology.
