Andrew Quinn via Deffenu 8 20133 Milano www.andrewquinn.org [email protected] Andrew Quinn is an Australian computer graphics artist and musician, living in Milan. He has worked on digital effects for films such as “The Matrix” and “Tomb Raider”, “Nirvana” and “Vajont”. In the last few years he specializes in video installations for multi screen and immersive environments and also digital graphics for interactive dance productions and contemporary music, including the series Koine' for Pomeriggi Musicale at Teatro Dal Verme, Milano in 2011 and the 2012 Biennale of Music in Venice, and virtual sets in 3D stereo for a production of Bartok's "Bluebeard's Castle" for the Budapest State Opera in 2011. In 2013-2014 he is artistic adviser for the Multimedia Competition for young composers and video artists at the San Fedele Cultural Institute in Milan. In 2013 he created interactive visuals for a dance performance at the Melzo International film Festival In 2014 he created live visuals for a performance of “Children’s Corner” by Debussy and “Pictures at an Exhibition” in Lecce with the Tito Schipa Symphony orchestra followed by a concert of contemporary music at the Meyerhold Cultural Center in Moscow , then in august 2014 he created virtual sets utilizing projection and LED strips for a performance of Monteverdi’s “L’Orfeo” in Canberra Australia and in November performs live visuals for 3 concerts in Russia for the Moscow Conservatorium of Music, using live video and again LEDs. He produced content in September 2014 for a video mapping project using laser scanning techniques for 3d modelling. December included a 3 stop tour of Russia performing live visuals for three contemporary composers from the Moscow Conservatory and again in Moscow, October 2015. In November 2015 he performed at the RomaEuropa festival live visuals for “Pictures at an Exhibition” played by a progressive rock band led by Enrico Gabrielli. In march a performance of “La creation du Monde” by Parmigiani using video mapping and audio reactive visuals, then in april an interactive installation for Salone dei Mobili in Milano, using double screen projection, LED panel and Kinect. He has lectured and given workshops in interactive visuals at IED and NABA, Milan, Quasar Institute of Design, Rome and the Australian Film School, Sydney, ANU Canberra, UIAV in Venice and for UCLA, plus numerous workshops for leading realtime visuals software TouchDesigner. In January 2016 he teaches a workshop at the Milan Conservatorium of Music. Andrew Quinn è un artista Australiano di grafica digitale e musicista che risiede a Milano. Ha curato gli effetti digitali di film quali “The Matrix” e “Tomb Raider”, “Nirvana” e “Vajont”. Negli ultimi anni si dedica a video-installazioni per ambienti multischermo e immersivi e alla grafica digitale interattiva per produzioni di spettacoli di danza e musica contemporanea. In 2011 ha fatto sound reactive visuals per la serie Koine per Pommeriggi Musicali, Teatro dal Verme Milano e in 2012 per la Biennale della Musica a Venezia. In 2011 ha fatto la scenografia virtuale in 3d stereo per una produzione di "il Castello di Barbablu" di Bartok per l'Opera di Budapest. Sara' consulente artistica in 2013-2014 per il concorso per giovani musicisti e videoartisti al Centro Culturale San Fedele a Milano. In 2013 ha curato interactive visuals per uno spettacolo di ballo per il Melzo International Film Festival. In 2014 ha fatto dei live visuals per un performance con l’Orchestra Tito Schipa di Lecce (“Children’s Corner” Debussy e “Pictures at an Exhibition” Mussorgsky) poi per uno spetaccolo di musica contemporanea al Mereyhold a Mosca . In agosto 2014 ha creato la scenografia viruale utilizando proiezione e strisce LED per una produzione di “L’Orfeo” di Monteverdi a Canberra, Australia. In Decembre 2014 ha fatto un tour della Russia con compositori del Conservatorio di Mosca, poi in gennaio 2015 a Milano ha rifatto i live visuals per “Pictures at an Exhibition” con un gruppo rock “progressivo” diretto da Enrico Gabrielli, poi in marzo al Auditorium San Fedele, Milano, ha fatto live visuals con video mapping per “La Creation du Monde” di Parmigiani - in aprile un installazione interattivo al Salone dei Mobili, Milano, utlizzando doppio proiezione, panello LED e kinect. In ottobre 2015 ha fatto un concerto a Mosca al Musicians Union Theatre poi “Pictures at an Exhibition” al RomaEuropa festival, con un set della musica di Nikolay Popov suonato dal percussionista, Sebbastiano di Gennaro. In settembre 2015 ha fatto un workshop al Australian National University, Canberra con studenti delle faculta’ di Mucia, Arte e Informatica. Ha dato lezioni alla NABA, Milano, Quasar Instituto di Design, Roma , IUAV Venezia ,al Australian Film School, Sydney ANU Canberra, e per UCLA. In gennaio 2016 fa un workshop al Conservatorio di Milano.
