Barbaresco Often noted as being the Queen of Italian wine, Barbaresco has been made famous for its ability to showcase the beauty and finesse of Nebbiolo having softer tannins than Barolo with more perfume-like aromatics. 1001 - Barbaresco, Prunotto, Bric Turot, 2001 173. 1002 - Barbaresco Riserva, Produttori, Rio Sordo, 2007 168. 1003 - Barbaresco, Luigi Giordano, Montestefano, 2010 98. 1005 - Barbaresco, Oderro, Gallina, 2010 143. 1007 - Barbaresco, Marchesi di Barolo, 2011 113. Barolo With Barbaresco being the Queen, Barolo is undoubtedly the King of Italian wine, showing off the brut strength of Nebbiolo. Look for great concentration of fruit with extreme depth and seemingly infinite length. 1100 - Barolo, Vietti, Rocche, 2008 238. 1101 - Barolo, Mascarello, Giuseppe e Figlio, 2006 213. 1102 - Barolo, Parusso, Le Coste-Mosconi, 2008 168. 1103 - Barolo, Pio Cesare, 2010 143. 1104 - Barolo, Coppo, Canelli, 2006 168. 1105 - Barolo, Damilano, Cannubi, 2008 218. 1106 - Barolo, Elio Altare, 2006 173. 1107 - Barolo, Stefano Farina, La Morra, 2009 108. 1109 - Barolo, Michele Chiarlo, Tortoniano, 2010 128. 1004 - Barolo, Virna, Cannubi, 2005 123. 1008 - Barolo, Virna, Sarmassa, 2006 118. Veneto One of the most diverse growing regions of Italy, theVeneto produces wines across a broad spectrum in regards to body, flavor profile and overall style. IGT You will see these 3 letters a few times throughout this list, it simply is a recognition, by the Italian governing body, of a place of origin and an overall style. IGT started as a bit of a slight, stating origin but not guaranteeing quality. Some IGT wines have become global market price and trend setters in spite of those governing bodies. 1203 - Merlot Veronese, Sansonina, 2011 79. 1202 - Cabernet Sauvignon, Le Ragose, 2008 68. 1204 - Cabernet Sauvignon, Maculan, Fratta Rosso del Veneto, 2007 188. 1205 - Cabernet Sauvignon, Torre Mellotti, Tenuta San Antonio, 2012 48. Valpolicella 1302 - Valpolicella Ripasso, Bussola, Ca’ del Laito, 2011 1303 - Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore, Speri, 2013 1304 - Recioto della Valpolicella Classico, Bussola, 2008 Amarone 65. 83. 133. Some have said that the winemakers in theValpolicella zone of Veneto were trying to cheat when they decided to dry their grapes, concentrating the sugars and making high octane, syrupy fruit bombs to satisfy the Roman hoards...consider that it takes three vines to produce one bottle of Amarone, if you can get the drying right at all. Some have lost entire vintages trying to replicate the process. The resulting wines are worth the risk. 1401 - Amarone, Bussola, 2007 168. 1402 - Amarone, Masi Costasera, 2010 148. 1403 - Amarone, Bertani, 2003 248. 1404 - Amarone, Zenato, 2010 143. 1405 - Amarone, Allegrini, 2010 153. 1407 - Amarone, Benedetti, Croce del Gal, 2006 193. Toscana Sangiovese, the most important grape in Tuscany, is able to produce wines with raw power, structure, soaring red fruit and bracing acidity. They are the quintessential Florentine wines, just don’t tell Siena. These wines are named for their place of origin, but they are all made predominantly with Sangiovese. Chianti Classico / Colli Senesi / Rufina 1600 - Chianti Classico Poggio Bonelli, 2011 1601 - Chianti Colli Senesi, Sono Montenidoli, 2013 1602 - Chianti Classico, Felsina, Berardenga, 2012 1605 - Chianti Classico Riserva, Melini, La Selvanella, 2008 1606 - Chianti Rufina Riserva, Selvapiana, Bucerchiale, 2011 1609 - Chianti Classico Riserva, Felsina, Rancia, 2009 1.5 Liter 61. 48. 67. 75. 78. 198. Super Tuscans / Bolgheri / Tuscan IGT What makes them super? Let’s just say they are not bound by the laws of the region...at least that’s how they started out. In 1994, the government wised up after seeing how much international acclaim and attention these wines had been commanding for over 20 years. Now there are some guidelines for wines labeled Bolgheri, Maremma, etc...but essentially these are Bordeaux style blends in the same sense as a California Meritage. Some winemakers choose to include the local Sangiovese to the usual suspects; Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. Some are making theirs 100% Sangiovese or even Syrah. The only rule we have is you enjoy these great wines with great food and great company. 1801 - Poggio alla Guardia, Maremma Toscana, 2011 68. 1802 - Epibios, Colombaiolo, IGT 2008 102. 1804 - Il Bruciato, Tenuta Guado al Tasso, Bolgheri, 2013 85. 1805 - Campaccio, Terrabianca, IGT 2010 88. 1806 - Case Via, Fontodi, IGT 2000 178. 1807 - Ceparello, Isole e Olena, IGT 2010 148. 1808 - Ornellaia, Tenuta dell’Ornellaia, Bolgheri Superiore, 2007/2008 403. 1809 - Tignanello, Antinori, IGT 2012 218. 1810 - Il Borgo, Cabreo, IGT 2012 153. 1811 - Sassicaia, Tenuta San Guido, Bolgheri Sassicaia, 2007 1.5L 953. 1813 - Sammarco, Castello dei Rampolla, IGT 2004 283. 1800 - Poggiassai, Poggio Bonelli, IGT 2010 98. 1814 - Castello de Bolgheri, Bolgheri Superiore, 2010 163. 1815 - Varvara, Castello de Bolgheri, Bolgheri, 2011 73. 1812 - Sondraia, Poggio al Tesoro, Bolgheri Superiore, 2011 108. 2005 - I Sodi Di S.Niccolo, Castellare, IGT 2010 163. 2111 - Maiorem, Piandaccoli, IGT 2011 113.
