Leader-cam venne fondata da Alberto Centazzo alla fine della
seconda guerra mondiale come piccolo opificio per una produzione
generica. Ben presto, però, ci si indirizzò verso la specializzazione,
fabbricando forbici da sarto, per le quali era richiesta alta qualità nel
tipo di acciaio utilizzato. La grande esperienza e perizia di Alberto è
stata tramandata ai figli, Livio e Gianquinto, ora titolari di Leader-cam.
Forti della nostra storia, abbiamo dato nuovo impulso all’azienda,
credendo nel nostro lavoro e costruendo la nuova fabbrica nel
1976, dopo il tragico terremoto. Nel nuovo sito, l’azienda ha iniziato
la produzione di forbici per parrucchieri, utilizzando dapprima i
più consueti acciai al carbonio e specializzandosi in seguito nella
lavorazione di acciai speciali.

Leader-cam was founded by Alberto Centazzo at the end of the
Second World War as a small workshop for generic production,
and then before long we were directed towards specialization in
producing tailors scissors which requires a high quality of the used
steel. The considerable experience of Alberto was transmitted to
his sons Livio and Gianquinto, the current owners of Leader-cam.
Thanks to our History that made us stronger, we have given a new
impetus to our business while believing in our efforts and building
the new factory after the earthquake tragedy in 1976. In our new
site, the company had begun the production of hairdresser’s scissors
using the same steel with carbon then specializing in manufacturing
of special steels.

AI FONDATORI
In pochi decenni siete davvero diventati dei leader
del vostro mercato.
Quando avete realizzato che la vostra vocazione
sarebbe stata la produzione di forbici?
Il nostro sapere deriva da una tradizione tramandata
dai nonni e dai genitori che realizzavano lame
per l’agricoltura e forbici da casa. Quando siamo
entrati noi in azienda, abbiamo subito cercato
di realizzare la nostra passione per la produzione
di lame speciali.
Da qui alla produzione di forbici specialistiche
per parrucchieri, il passo è stato breve.
Il vostro è un mercato molto competitivo.
Qual è la chiave per rispondere sempre con prontezza?
I mercati più importanti per noi sono il mercato Italiano
e quello Tedesco dove il nostro prodotto è sempre stato
considerato di eccellenza: per la grande qualità, dovuta
all’esperienza e all’evoluzione continua della tecnologia
produttiva. Ma prima di tutto per il design sempre
innovativo.
Quanto ha contato far parte di un territorio d’elezione
per la produzione di lame come Maniago?
Il contesto conta molto. Nel territorio maniaghese
si producevano già, con eccellenti risultati,
attrezzi da taglio come coltelli, bisturi e lame
per l’agricoltura.
Come definireste lo spirito della vostra azienda?
La nostra è un’azienda a livello artigianale che ha
nel DNA la cultura e la passione della perfezione
per il taglio.
E’ per questo che avete stretto un’alleanza con
Pininfarina e state per varare un ambizioso progetto
che riguarda l’ergonomia?
Il team di Pininfarina collabora con noi per raggiungere
un disegno sempre più esteticamente coinvolgente
e perfetto dal punto di vista anatomico. Poi noi ci
mettiamo competenza artigianale e passione infinita:
per noi è questa l’essenza del made in Italy.
Voi siete ancora giovani, ma avete già programmato
la continuità generazionale?
La cultura e la passione si tramandano ad personam!
Oggi in azienda ci sono giovani appassionati
e informati che condividono le nostre scelte
e che offrono un continuo stimolo al miglioramento
estetico e produttivo.
Qual è l’insegnamento più importante che avete
ricevuto dai vostri padri e quale vorreste trasmettere
ai vostri figli?
La filosofia dei nostri padri, che sposiamo in toto
e che abbiamo cercato di tramandare, è molto
semplice: non è il raggiungimento di livelli economici
ambiziosi a farci stare bene, ma l’essere considerati
dai nostri clienti un’azienda seria che produce bene
oggi come allora.
Sembra però che anche le grandi aziende
multinazionali vi apprezzino.
E’ vero, siamo partner di importanti aziende mondiali
che distribuiscono i nostri prodotti in vari mercati.
Ma il nostro modo di lavorare e la nostra visione
del mondo non sono certo cambiati.

WITH THE FOUNDERS
In just a few decades, you have become the leader
of your market. When did you realize that your vocation
would be the production of scissors?
Our knowledge comes from a tradition passed down
from our grandparents and parents who used to make
knives, scissors for agriculture and homework scissors.
When we entered into the company, we immediately
tried to realize our passion for the production
of special blades. The next step was a short one
for the production of professional hairdressing scissors.
How important was it to be part of an area
of excellence for the blades production as Maniago?
The context matters a lot. In the area of Maniago
there were already productions of cutting tools such
as knives, nippers and scissors for agriculture with
excellent results.
How would you define the spirit of your company?
Our company is a craftsmanship level one that has
in the DNA the culture and the passion of perfection
on cutting.
Your market is a very competitive one.
What is the key to always responding promptly?
The most important markets for us are the Italian
and the German ones, where our product has always
been considered an Excellent one for Quality,
due to the experience and the continuous evolution
of production technology. But first of all the design
is always to be more innovative.
Is it for this reason that you have partnered with
Pininfarina and you’re about to launch an ambitious
project that concerns the ergonomics?
The Pininfarina team collaborates with us to achieve
a design always more engaging aesthetically
and perfect from the anatomical point of view.
Then we add our craftsmanship’s expertise
and our infinite passion: this is, for us, the essence
of the “Made in Italy”.

You are still young, but did you already programme
the generation continuity? The culture and passion
are passed down “ad personam”!
Nowadays we have in the company young people
passionate and informed, who share our choices
and provide a continuous incentive to the aesthetics
and production improvement.
What is the most important knowledge you have
received from your fathers, and that you would like
to pass down to your children?
The philosophy of our fathers, that we’re espousing
in everything and that we’re trying to pass down
is very simple: it is not the achievement of ambitious
economic levels to make us feel good, but being
considered by our customers a serious company
that is producing the same quality today, as yesterday.
Still it seems that also the large multinational
companies appreciate you?
It’s true, we are partners with major global companies
that distribute our products in various markets.
But the way we work and our vision of the world
certainly didn’t change.

Con l’apporto di Pininfarina abbiamo prodotto alcune
creazioni che uniscono ergonomia, bellezza e leggerezza
delle forme.

a completely Italian product we meet one of the
greatest designers of ‘Made in Italy’.
With the contribution of Pininfarina, we produced some
creations that combine ergonomics, beauty
and light shapes.

L’ergonomia studia l’interazione tra uomo e tecnologia.
La forbice è lo strumento principe per i parrucchieri,
per cui deve essere agevolmente un prolungamento
della mano.
Rimane in uso per ore per cui l’interazione tra strumento
e corpo umano deve essere perfetta per prevenire
stanchezza, affaticamento e altri più consistenti malanni.
Leader-cam ha dato vita a un progetto per trovare
i parametri ideali di ogni forbice, in collaborazione
con l’Area Science Park, il Parco Scientifico e Tecnologico
di Trieste.
The ergonomics studies the interaction between the man
and the ergonomy. The scissor is the main tool for
hairdressers, this is why it should easily be an extension
of the hand.
It is used for hours so the interaction between the tool
and the body must be perfect to prevent tiredness, fatigue
and other more consistent ailments.
Leader-cam has created a project to find the ideal
parameters for each scissor in collaboration with the Area
Science Park, the Science and Technologic Park of Trieste.

DESCRIZIONE DEL PROGETTO: Il nostro obiettivo è fornire
un display con un design moderno, in grado di presentare
e valorizzare i prodotti LEADER-CAM in modo efficace. Il display
vuol essere un pezzo di arredamento da desiderare quanto
i nostri prodotti: per saloni espositivi, negozi, cash and carry.
Il display occupa uno spazio ridotto, dando al contempo
grande risalto ai nostri prodotti. È a forma di torretta con la
parte espositiva nella parte superiore, ad altezza di sguardo
e può essere posizionato sia lungo una parete che al centro
di una stanza o di un salone. I clienti possono guardare
i prodotti da ogni lato grazie all’effetto ‘quattro fronti’, con
il logo in ognuno di essi. Il display può essere utilizzato con
il Merchandising Kit.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Our objective is to design a deluxe
retail display that valorizes effectively the LEADER-CAM
products. The display can be used in conjunction with
the Merchandising Kit. Our aim was to create a piece of
furniture, just like our products, that you would desire for
your exhibitions space, shops and cash & carry, a furniture
that can live with you. The display minimizes the space it
occupies, while maximizing the appearance of our products.
The display takes a form of a tower with a square window on
the top, it can be placed against a wall, or in the middle of a
room or a salon. Clients can stand on all sides of this display
as it effectively has 4 fronts, with a logo on all sides.
