I - GESU’ E’ CONDANNATO
A MORTE
Jesus is
condemned to Death
Quindi essi urlavano,
dicendo: “Al palo!Al
palo!”…“Ma che male ha
fatto quest’uomo?”
(Lc 23,21-22)
but they shouted back, “To
the cross with him! To the
cross!”… “Why, what evil
has he done?” (Lk 23, 21-22)
How many times, Lord, I, too, condemn you by my behaviour…
Signore, ti sei caricato della croce che anch’io ho costruito
con i miei peccati …
II - GESU’ E’
CARICATO DELLA
CROCE
Jesus is laden with
the Cross
Eppure Egli si è caricato delle
nostre sofferenze, si è addossato i
nostri dolori…
(Is 53, 4)
Yet ours were the sorrows he
bore,
ours were the sufferings he
endured…
(Is 53, 4)
Lord, You are laden with the Cross which I have built through my sins!
Aiutami a rialzarmi con te per una vita nuova nella libertà dei figli,
e a liberare dalle loro sofferenze i fratelli.
III - GESU’ CADE LA PRIMA
VOLTA SOTTO IL PESO
DELLA LA CROCE

…Schiacciato per le
nostre iniquità (Is 53, 5)
Destroyed
because of our
sins,
he was crushed for our
wickedness. (Is 53, 5)

Lord, help me to rise with You to a new life in the freedom of the children
of God, and to free my brothers and sisters from their sufferings.
Gesù interpella la mia vita; devo uscire dal mio immobilismo, dal mio
guscio irresponsabile ed egoista che annulla la forza creatrice della
Grazia.
IV - GESU’ INCONTRA LA
MADRE
Jesus meets His
Mother
…e anche a te una spada
trafiggerà l’anima (Lc 2, 35)
while a sword will pierce
your own soul. (Lk 2, 35)
Jesus queries me about my life: I must get out of my sloth, out of my
irresponsible and selfish shell, which annuls the effect of the creative
force of Grace in me.
Anch’io sono chiamato ad essere il cireneo del ritorno
di tutti al Padre.
V - GESU’ E’ AIUTATO DAL
CIRENEO A PORTARE LA
CROCE
Jesus is helped by
Simon of Cyrene to
carry His Crosss
Allora costrinsero un tale
che passava, un certo Simone
di Cirene…a portare la
croce. (Mc 15, 21)
On the way they met Simon
of Cyrene…and forced him
to carry the cross of Jesus.
(Mk 14,21)
I, too, am called to be the Simon who helps others to return to God.
E Cristo continuerà a soffrire nei fratelli perchè io non ho il
coraggio di essere coerente con la mia fede?
VI - LA VERONICA ASCIUGA
IL VOLTO A GESU’
Veronica wipes the
Face of Jesus
…Cercate il suo volto; il tuo
volto Signore, io cerco. Non
nascondermi il tuo volto…
(Sal 27(26), 8-9)
…seek your face, O Lord.”
Do not hide your face from
me… (Ps 27, 8-9)
Does Jesus continue to suffer in his brothers and sisters, because I lack
the courage to be coherent with my faith?
L’importante è rialzarsi sempre, anche dopo mille cadute, perchè la
misericordia di Dio è più grande di qualsiasi peccato.
VII - GESU’ CADE LA
SECONDA VOLTA
Jesus falls the
Second Time
Per te io sopporto l’insulto e la
vergogna mi copre la faccia;
(Sal 69(68), 8)
since I am held in contempt for
your sake, and shame has
covered my face. (Ps 69, 8)
What matters is to rise again, even after a thousand falls, because the
mercy of God is greater than any sin.
Il sentimentalismo, le lacrime facili possono essere una maschera del
nostro assenteismo anzichè una reale presenza per chi soffre…
VIII – GESU’ INCONTRA
LE DONNE DI
GERUSALEMME
Jesus meets the
Women of Jerusalem
“Figlie di Gerusalemme non
piangete su di me, ma piangete
su voi stesse e sui vostri figli”
Lc 23,28
“Women of Jerusalem, do not
weep for me, weep rather for
yourselves and for your
children.(Lk 23, 28)
Sentimentality, easy tears can be a mask of our indifference
rather than a real presence for those who suffer.
L’amore per il Padre e per gli uomini spinge Gesù a rialzarsi e a portare a
compimento la salvezza del mondo. Ed io come reagisco alla stanchezza e
alla fatica nella vita di fede?
IX - GESU’ CADE PER LA
TERZA VOLTA
Jesus falls the
Third Time
Noi che siamo forti abbiamo il
dovere di sopportare l’infermità
dei deboli, senza compiacere a noi
stessi. (Rm 15, 1)
We, the strong and liberated,
should bear the weakness of those
who are not strong, instead of
pleasing ourselves (Rom 15, 1)
Love for the Father and for men urges Jesus to get up and to carry to
completion the salvation of the world. And I, how do I react to tiredness
and to the fatigue of a life of faith?
Gesù soffre in tanti uomini spogliati e martoriati, privati della loro
dignità. Che io sappia rivestire chi è nudo ed essere strumento di
comunione e non di divisione.
X – GESU’ E’
SPOGLIATO DELLE
VESTI
Jesus is stripped of
His Clothes
Dopo essersi, poi, divise le sue
vesti, le tirarono a sorte.
Luca 23, 34
And the guards cast lots to
divide his clothes among
themselves. (Lk 23,34)
Jesus suffers in many human beings stripped and deprived
of their dignity May I learn how to clothe those who are naked and to
be an instrument of communion and not of division
Liberandoci attraverso la sofferenza della croce, Gesù sapeva che,
molte volte, anche noi avremmo dovuto affrontare la croce per restare
fedeli al nostro battesimo.
XI – GESU’ E’
INCHIODATO SULLA
CROCE
Jesus is nailed to
the Cross
Anche i soldati lo schernivano,
e gli si accostavano per
porgergli dell’aceto… Lc 23,36
The soldiers also mocked him
and when they drew near to
offer him bitter wine (Lk 23,36)
Freeing us, through the suffering of the Cross, Jesus knew that, many
times,we, too, would have to face the cross to remain
faithful to our Baptism.
Nessuno ha un amore più grande di colui che dà la vita per i suoi amici.
Quanto, io, ti sono amico, o mio Signore?
XII – GESU’ MUORE
IN CROCE
Jesus dies on the
Cross
“Padre, nelle tue mani
consegno il mio spirito.”Detto
questo spirò. Lc 23,46
Then Jesus gave a loud cry,
“Father, into your hands I
commend my spirit.” And
saying that, he gave up his
spirit. (Lk 23, 36)
No one has a greater love that he who lays down his life for his friends.
How much do I love You, O Lord?
Oh Maria, fino a quando continuerai a piangere per gli altri membri
morti del Corpo mistico del tuo Figlio?
XIII – GESU’ E’
DEPOSTO DALLA
CROCE
Jesus is taken down
from the Cross
Lo calò dalla croce, lo avvolse
in un lenzuolo… Lc 23,53
He then took it down, wrapped
it in a linen cloth …(Lk 23, 53)
O Mary, how long will you continue to cry over other dead members of the
Mystical Body of your Son?
Sono capace, come Maria, di credere nella Risurrezione anche durante
il Sabato Santo?
XIV – GESU’ E’
DEPOSTO NEL
SEPOLCRO
JESUS IS LAID IN THE
TOMB
… e lo depose in una tomba
scavata nella roccia, nella quale
nessuno era stato ancora
deposto Lc 23,53
…and laid him in a sepulchre
that was hewed in stone,
wherein never yet any man had
been laid. (Lk 23, 53)
Am I able, like Mary, to believe in the Resurrection also during the
Holy Saturday?
XIV – GESU’ E’ RISORTO!
Jesus is Risen!
La mia vita cristiana non può essere un sepolcro
chiuso: a tutti devo annunciare che Gesù è risorto!
SE IL CHICCO DI GRANO, NON MUORE NON PORTA
FRUTTO.
My Christian life cannot become a close tomb: to all
I must announce that Jesus is Risen!
IF THE SEED OF WHEAT DOE NOT DIE, IT DOES NOT
BEAR FRUIT!
Ma entrate, non trovarono il
corpo del Signore Gesù…
Perchè cercate tra i morti
colui che è vivo? Non è qui,
è risuscitato. (Lc 24, 3…6)

the living among the dead?
You won’t find him here. He
