Today the city is a blend of beautiful historic buildings, trendy riverside cafes and shops, modern shopping centres and outstanding cinemas and theatres. All located in the neighbourhood of thick forest areas and wide sandy beaches. Walking in the city and getting to know its history etched in the monuments will give you many magical moments and true emotions. Gdańsk is a pearl of bourgeois architecture, boasting beautiful houses and a unique market. It is a world of cozy streets and historical churches. These are also perfectly preserved fortifications, ranked among the biggest in Europe, and interesting harbour architecture. Gdańsk - a city for active people If you enjoy spending your free time actively, attractions there are just what you are looking for. The choice is wide: picturesque cycling and walking paths, kilometres of beaches and one of Poland's largest zoos. Gdańsk is an active city for active people. Neptune statue in the shadow of the Main Town Hall Central Maritime Museum and the Crane Gdańsk's National Maritime Museum is made up of four individual museums, including The Crane and the Sołdek ship - together create a complete history of the port. The Gdańsk Shakespeare Theatre St. Mary's Street [Ulica Mariacka] Locally known as ul. Mariacka, this cobbled street lined with amber galleries and cafes, runs from St. Mary's Church to the Motława River. It was badly damaged during WWII but carefully reconstructed.
