Status report
• School registered at CNAF:

• Fix for transfers (v2: using rsync) to be tested
in Altamura, BA (ALTA-01)

How to install the fix
• From Virtual Machine terminal:
> wget http://www.centrofermi.it/eee_versions/checkVersion
> chmod a+x checkVersion
> ./checkVersion
No need to reboot/reinstall anything, changes are taken immediately

Future development for data transfer
We discuss (CNAF) how to simplify the data transfers
using the tools available on the market.
We identify a solution which should be able to avoid to
run of a linux virtual machine on the DAQ system.
• Globus connect within EU project or Bit torrent sync
– They require just a client running on windows
– Transfers and monitoring are managed via a web interface
– We don’t propose this as the production setup for the pilot
run but it would be useful to test it in the next month in 12 schools.

Authentication at CNAF
-
we received so far 2/3 requests (Garbini, Coccetti, Gnesi?).
- in future authentication at CNAF will be mandatory to access the data stored at
CNAF
- The machine to log in is: bastion.cnaf.infn.it (which is the only machine open to
external accesses) and from there you will access all the EEE resources
- the policy to copy files from CNAF to your local machine has to be defined (we
didn't discuss it yet)

- a server to get files from the schools ( cloudvm148.cloud.cnaf.infn.it ) entirely managed but CNAF staff.
- a web server entirely managed but CNAF staff.
- a user interface (shared with other experiments) to access
the CNAF cloud
- a machine to run reconstruction job (open to super EEE
users)
- one or more machines for the analysis users
