T9400 TWILIGHT ZONE, THE MOVIE (USA, 1983)
(Other titles: Ai confini della realta; Quatrieme dimension)
Credits: director/writer, John Landis.
Cast: Vic Morrow, Doug McGrath, Albert Leong, Stephen Bishop.
Summary: Science fiction/fantasy anthology based on the television series. Four
episodes in which each has its own distinct style and flavor. Each tells you a
little more about the tricks your mind can play and the secret wonders or
terrors that lie just beneath the surface of our comfortable, everyday
existence. In the first episode, a loud-mouthed bigot (Morrow) shouts his
hatred for Jews, Blacks and Vietnamese while getting drunk in a bar. He is
then plucked from reality and while in the “twilight zone” finds himself a Jew
in occupied France during WWII, then a Black being hunted by the KKK in
the 1960s South, and finally a Vietnamese being pursued through the jungle
by American soldiers. During the production of this segment, a helicopter
crash killed Vic Morrow and two Vietnamese American child actors resulting
in a long running law suit and criminal charges against John Landis for
negligence.
