January 14, 1925.
BY ACT OF THE ALUMNI EXECUTIVE COMMITTITR, THE COLLEGE RADIO CLUB
HAS BEEN GIVEN A PLACE IN THE PRO BONO HAVERFORDIENSI BUDGET.
This important activity is to receive part of the funds made
available for publicity and extension purposes.
Alumni who are familiar with Haverford'e radio record during
the past three years will be gratified to learn that their
support given to the Association's Pro Bono program will
now include support of the Radio Club with its valuable
contribution to extension and publicity work.
Alumni who feel unfamiliar with this department are invited
and urged ta acqiiaint themselves with the facts below.
THE HAVERFORD COLLEGE RADIO CLUB, STATION WABQ
1. - Is an undergraduate organization, operating under
Students' Council, and inviting Alumni participation.
Is the pioneer and foremost college club, and has this
reputation to maintain.
2. - Set a record in trans-oceanic communication during December by staging chess matches between students of Haverford and Oxford University for five continuous hours.
3. - Plans to put "on the air" all main events, lectures,
concerts, etc., averaging a program a week throughout
the college year. The MID-WINTER DINNER speeches,
January 31st, will be made available to those unable
to be present at college.
4. - IS PERHAPS HAVERFORD'S GREATEST AND MOST EFFECTIVE MEANS
OF getting desirable public attention. Prospective
Haverfordians form a generous portion of the large
body of radio public who listen for or read of the
activities of "STATION WABQ, Haverford College Radio
Club, 261 meters°.
The portion of the Association's funds allotted to this feature will be devoted mainly to the important work of station maintenance; purchase of new tubes, and inside equipment. If sufficient it may participate in the construction
of an aerial tower on Sharpless Hall, required to establish
satisfactory radius and volume, and in the purchase of echo
eliminating draperies for the proposed broadcasting "studio"
in the Haverford Union.
N.B. Radio owners! A card to Alumni Secretary Hoopes will put your
name on the list to receive notification of events to be
broadcasted as they are arranged for.

Imagine a girl with three lovers—each bent
on possessing her—each playing the
game according to his nature.
The one, Van Bu ren Rutger offers social prestige and wealth. The other John Thurston
shows brains, will and courage, and the third, Ponape Burke, a "cave-man" uses brute force
and cunning to gain his ends.
Lovely Palmyra Tree embarking on the yacht "Rainbow" for a cruise to the South'
Seas little dreamed of the desperate straits in which she would find herself—
