Design Concept
The design concept for the Permit Application Center focuses
on creating a welcoming feel for Salem community members.
To help people feel comfortable in this new space, the design
contrasts warm wood patterns with natural light. The brightness of this space will ease people’s minds when dealing with
the difficult tasks of applying for a permit or understanding
building codes.
The waiting area is funished with upholstered lounge chairs
in a deep purple tone. Coffee tables set with design books and
potted plants make this space feel more like home.
A large illustracted directory is located to the left of the
information desk so that community members may better find
their way around the new building. This information desk will
always be staffed with a friendly worker whose job it is to
help people find there way.
