Advanced Quantative Reasoning Teacher: Rhonda Weldon Room 224 Conference: 1st period and B day 4th block E-mail: [email protected] [email protected] Phone: School 940-369-2140 Course description: This AQR is a two semester course. This course extends the concepts learned in Geometry and Algebra 2. This is not a blow off course. Curriculum Outline: The mathematics TEKS set by the state describe what a child should know and be able to do. You may view the TEKS at www.tea.state.tx.us/teks/index.html Supplies 1. Folder to leave in the classroom to store notes and classwork (Notebook with braids) 2. Denton High School Agenda (provided by DHS) 3. Antibacterial lotion 4. 4 “AAA” batteries because we use graphing calculators everyday 5. 2 boxes of Kleenex Grading Policy: Major Summative 60% Major summative grades include tests and projects. There will be 3 major summative grades each 9 weeks. All projects will be turned in through google classroom. For test retakes, the student will need to correct the assessment and come in to explain to Ms. Weldon what was missed and why in order to retake the test. All retakes must be completed in 10 school days from the day it was returned to the student. For project corrections, the student can correct the project using the grading rubric filled out by Ms. Weldon. When the project is completed, the student will need to turn in the grading rubric and resubmit on google classroom so I can re-grade the part that needed to be fixed. Without the rubric, I cannot re-grade it. All corrections must be completed in 10 school days from the day it was returned to the student. Minor Summative 40% Minor summative grades include daily classwork and quizzes. Because minor assessments are followed by major assessments , minor assessments will not be retaken. The minor assessment grade will be replaced with the major assessment grade that was over the same material if it is higher. If a minor assessment grade is a computer lab activity it is due that day by midnight. Make-up Work: Any tests or quizzes that are missed due to absence must be made up within a week of returning to school. (Assignments that were due the day you were absent are due the day you return.) Assignments will be posted on Google Classroom. Any worksheets can be found at the back of the room in a tray if you don’t have access to a printer. You need to plan on attending tutoring to get help. The longer you wait to ask for help, the harder it will be to get caught up. Students that are absent due to a school activity must get assignments in advance. They should be current with the rest of the class when they return. This is school policy. If you are absent the lessons for that day can be found on google classroom. Tutoring: After school help is available Monday through Thursday and most Fridays.
