CURRENT POPULATION, HOUSING UNITS AND HOUSEHOLDS
The population, housing units and households estimates are as of January 1 of the respective year
on the table. Housing units are obtained from the real estate tax assessment files for the same time
period. Households are occupied housing units. Total population is a combination of household
population (persons living in housing units) and group quarters population (persons living in facilities
such as detention centers, nursing homes, military quarters, dormitories, etc.). The current estimates
are summarized by supervisor district and town, planning district, human services region, ZIP Code,
sewershed, and census tract.
Population density is based on the total land and water area in the county.
For detailed methodology, please refer to Appendix A.
