Course Description: (A) This course will present the research process with emphasis upon critical evaluation of the various research methodologies. It also presents the steps involved in various research processes and the process of writing a research proposal. (3 cr. hr.) Course Attendance Policy: Attendance is part of the quality of your educational experience. Attendance at all on-campus meetings is expected. No assignments/handouts will be given out after the class session in which they were distributed, unless previous arrangements had been made. No handouts, notes or assistance will be provided for material distributed or covered during an unexcused absence (or an excused absence without prior, written notification). All absences are immediately considered unexcused. However, absences may be excused at the discretion of the instructor if all of the following procedures are applied: 1. The instructor is notified in person, by email, or by telephone no later than one hour prior to the beginning of the respective lecture. 2. In the case of an illness, written evidence from a physician or Health Services is required. Course Goal: Students will become consumers of research in physical education, sport and kinesiology. Course Objectives: 1. Students will read, critique, and discuss applications of research in physical education and sport. Required performance: In class assignments and homework.
