are pleased to announce that the 2009 Golden Dragon Awards Gala took
place Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at the Winnipeg Convention Centre.
The gala was a tremendous success! Guests dined and were entertained
during cocktail hour with palmistry by Patrick Chau and calligraphy by
Edmond and Maria Lip. Dinnertime entertainment was provided by worldrenown flutist,Wang Xiao Nan accompanied by Ludwig Lee.
The Golden Dragon Awards Gala is run bi-annually (since 1989) and serves
to honour citizens who have greatly influenced and supported the
community in Winnipeg. It is also the Winnipeg Chinese Cultural and
Community Centre’s chief fundraiser to ensure that the centre’s programs
and events will continue to be offered to all citizens of Manitoba. The 2009
honourees are The Honourable Dr. Lloyd Axworthy, P.C., O.C., O.M., Dr.TseLi Luk and Eva Y.W, Luk.
100% of the proceeds of the dinner and silent and live auctions will go
toward WCCCC programs including the Winnipeg Chinatown Centennial
Student Scholarship to be awarded to two university students. This
scholarship is to honour Winnipeg Chinatown’s 100th anniversary.
