Research Report
University of Manitoba Department of Psychiatry Research Report
This year’s Departmental Research Report is the eighth annual report since its reintroduction in 1998. Highlights of research activity this year include forty-four peerreviewed papers (published or in press), nine scholarly book chapters, the Third Annual
Faculty Research Forum and sustained funding of two research groups through a variety
of national granting agencies. Noteworthy achievements of the past year include the
renewal of Dr. Brian Cox’s Canada Research Chair in Mood and Anxiety Disorders and
the appointment of Dr. Harvey Chochinov to the Governing Council of the Canadian
Institutes of Health Research. Once again, the areas of research activity represented in
this annual report reflect a great diversity of interests and expertise within the Department
of Psychiatry.
