In 2008, the City of La Feria, Texas obtained capital
funding for the expansion of their drinking water
treatment plant, to meet the needs of a growing
population and the necessity to rehabilitate their existing,
aging process equipment. The project expansion called
for the addition of one solids contact clarifier and four new
dual-media gravity filters with a maximum rated capacity
of 2.0 MGD. The City contracted Sigler, Winston,
Greenwood & Associates to design, plan and bid the
expansion and upgrade to the facility.

SOLUTION
Of the two clarifiers in service at the plant prior to the
expansion, the City took note of the superior performance
of Infilco’s Accelator® unit, with lower effluent turbidities
and coagulant dosages. The existing Accelator had always
outperformed the competing unit and proved to be more
reliable, with lower operation and maintenance
costs.
