DO YOU GUARANTEE THAT I WILL
LEARN ENGLISH IN YOUR PROGRAM?
Learning a language is done with extensive
practice and involvement inside and outside
the classroom. Therefore, the guarantee of
learning will greatly depend on the student’s
motivation and willingness to learn. The
Language Institute will provide resources
and educational guidance for success.
WHAT DOCUMENTS DO I NEED
TO ENROLL IN THE LANGUAGE
INSTITUTE?
As a U.S. citizen or resident, you need an
identification document, such as a driver’s
license or voter registration card.
DO I NEED TO GET A STUDENT
VISA TO ENROLL IN THE
LANGUAGE INSTITUTE IF I AM
ONLY ATTENDING PART-TIME?
Only Mexican nationals may attend part-time
under a border commuter student visa.
These students must reside in Mexico and
commute throughout the period of study.

ESL COURSES
The Language Institute offers five levels of
English as a second language, including an
introductory level.
We offer grammar, reading, writing and
conversation courses at every level.
Students who seek admission to UTB or other
English-speaking university should complete the
entire Language Institute program to be prepared
linguistically and academically.
ACT PREPARATION COURSE
Be prepared for all sections of the ACT exam:
sentence completion, reading comprehension,
grammar, essay writing, math and scientific
reasoning. The four-week ACT Preparation
Course is offered before each national test date.
TOEFL PREPARATION COURSE

TRANSLATION AND
INTERPRETATION
(ENGLISH-SPANISH)
Learn effective business translation and
interpreting. This technical program will provide
you with hands-on training in this diverse,
growing market. The demand for translators
has never been greater.
PREPARATION FOR COLLEGE
This course prepares students for the
challenges of university life concentrating on
time management skills, study skills, academic
goals, motivation among other elements.
Students develop reading writing and listening
skills in English at a university level.
CURRENT EVENTS
This course allows students to analyze,
interpret, and discuss current topics and
events that impact our society. Students are
exposed to continuous practice of English while
developing oral presentations and analytical
skills drawn from topic discussions.
AMERICAN HISTORY AND CULTURE
Learn about America’s most-important historical
events and its culture and political system.
