Dear University Scholars,
For Fall 2012, all University Scholars will meet the following requirements. Failure to meet these requirements
will result in the loss of your scholarship. If you have any questions regarding these requirements, please do not
hesitate to contact the University Scholars Office.
Freshman – Class of 2016 (1st Year in Program)
1) Meet with Peer Mentor at least once a month during the semester, for a total of 3 times.

Turn in Mentor/Mentee contact log sheet on Friday, November 30, 2012
2) Attend Freshman Convocation on Thursday, August 30, 2012

Meet at The Arts Center at 2:45pm – Find a scholar representative to sign in with
3) Complete 6 Academic Success Skills Online Modules (Located on your Blackboard account) by
Wednesday, October 31, 2012
4) Complete 6 Campus Activity Credits – 1 Student Life, 1 Athletic Event, 1 Civic Engagement, 1 Fine Art, and
2 of your choice

At least 3 need to be turned in by Friday October 12, 2012, the remainder by Friday November 30,
2012
5) Meet with a University Scholar Program Advisor –

Between August 15 – 24, 2012 – Appointments will be made via email

Between October 1 – 5, 2012 – Appointments will be made during your 1st meeting

Between November 5 – 9, 2012 – Appointments will be made during your 1st meeting
6) Turn in Progress Reports by Friday, October 19, 2012
7) Turn in course recommendations form from Academic Advising and Spring 2013 class schedule by Friday,
November 30, 2012
8) Complete surveys as needed
9) Attempt 15 hours and complete 15 hours (Unless completion of the 15 Hour Wavier Form and prior
approval by program advisor)
10) Maintain a semester 3.0 GPA
11) Enroll and complete the UNIV course

2) Attend MLK Day of Service Event on Monday, January 21, 2013
3) Complete 4 Leadership and Engagement Online Modules (Located on your Blackboard account)
4) Attend a Scholar lab session to complete the Choices Inventory
5) Attend a follow up meeting with the Student Success Career Counselor and submit form by Friday, May 3,
2013
6) Complete 6 UTB Activity Credits – 1 Student Life, 1 Athletic, 1 Civic Engagement, 1 Fine Art, and 2 of your
