Transfer Guide -­‐ Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy Transfer Process All transfer students seeking a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy should follow the admission procedures located at www.stcloudstate.edu/transfer to be admitted to St. Cloud State. A student must first be accepted to St. Cloud State and then may apply to the Philosophy major after meeting with the advisor for the Philosophy Department. The Philosophy Department offers a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and an interdisciplinary degree. For more information, please see the University Catalog. The following courses transfer from Central Lakes College to St. Cloud State:
CLC Course SCSU Course PHIL 1415 Philosophy and Popular Culture OR PHIL 112 Philosophical Explorations PHIL 2410 Intro to Philosophy PHIL 1421 Critical Thinking OR PHIL 194 Critical Reasoning PHIL 1460 Logic PHIL 2420 Ethics OR PHIL 212 Moral Problems and Theories PHIL 2430 Contemporary Moral Problems The following courses are suggested for particular MnTC Goals: CLC Course SCSU Course Goal 2, 4: PHIL 1460 Logic OR PHIL 194 Critical Reasoning Goal 2, 9: PHIL 1421 Critical Thinking Goal 6, 9: PHIL 2420 Ethics OR PHIL 212 Moral Problems and Theories PHIL 2430 Contemporary Moral Problems • It is recommended that students take these courses as a part of the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MnTC) or Associate in Arts (AA) degree. • If a student completes a Goal within the MnTC, the same Goal will be completed at St. Cloud State once transferred. Additional Requirements to Consider when Degree Planning • Completion of 10 Goals (40 credits) in the MnTC (known as the Liberal Education Program at St. Cloud State) • Philosophy majors are required to have a second major, a minor, or one year of a foreign language • Majors and minors in Philosophy must complete all required philosophy courses and those taken as electives in the program with a grade of "C-­‐" or better • 40 upper-­‐division credits (300-­‐400 level coursework) are required to graduate Please refer to www.transferology.com for up-­‐to-­‐date information on course equivalencies. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________
