KC Radiology Club attended the ISSRT Conference!
Kerry Phillips received
second place and Katlyn
Vogt received third place in
the Student Paper
Competition held at the
Conference. The students
were judged on their written
paper and their oral
presentations. Kerry’s paper
was titled “Rheumatoid
Arthritis” and Katlyn’s was
titled “Achondroplasia”. It is
an honor to be chosen and
these students did an
excellent job explaining &
describing these diseases. It is
very nerve racking to give oral
presentations to your peers
and other educators and both
of these students did an
outstanding job!!!!!
CONGRATULATIONS!
The 2013 KC Radiology club attended the ISSRT 78th Annual Conference held April 17-19, 2013 in Normal, IL Some of
the highlight sessions over the three days included the following: Radiographer’s Trifecta presented by Stewart
Bushong (The author of the Physics book used by the students); Surgery 101, Extreme Surgical Procedures; A Day in the
Life of a Radiologic Technologist in the NFL; The Memorial Lecture : cancer in the Crosshairs Giving Our Patients a
Fighting Chance; and Trauma, Trials, and Triumphs. Anthony Anderson RT (R) did an excellent job discussing the
wonderful opportunities in the field of radiology. He is one of only 64 radiographer who works for the NFL and his team
is the Seattle Seahawks! He also works as a specialized surgical radiographer and has traveled the world working with
manufacturers of C-Arm equipment. Anthony told the attendees that an RT (R) can get you anywhere you want to go as
long as you have the PERSONALITY, ATTITUDE, and WILLINGNESS.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE!
In some instances, Kaskaskia College
Radiology Students make a distinct
positive difference in the lives of a
patient, fellow students, or
radiographer in the clinical setting.
Students have specific job descriptions
and understand what is expected of
them in their job performance but in
certain circumstances, some
Kaskaskia College Radiology Students
have gone far beyond the structures of
their job description to help others.
If you catch someone in the act of
going over and above what is expected
at their clinical setting, let us know!
This is your opportunity to “expose” a
student for their good deeds and
benevolent gestures. Please think
about any student who has gone that
extra mile and consider nominating
him or her for exemplary
performance of duties beyond the
confines of the job description. We
will acknowledge those individuals
who are nominated.
The class of 2013 had three students
who received this award. They were
Shayla Stanfield, KatieThacker,
and Aimee Bourgeois (not pictured)
These students displayed their
excellent patient care and ability to
work as an important team member
at their clinical sites.
The class of 2014 had two students,
Alyssa Evans and Jensine Reed
who were also honored with this
“Making a Difference” Award.
Congratulations!
