UNLV Statistics Minor 2015-2016 Catalog University Requirements for Minors: Minors are awarded at graduation only at the same time a major is awarded At least nine credits must be earned at UNLV 12 credit hours must be earned at the 300-400 level 18 credit hours must be earned in the subject area (24 recommended) Mathematics Department Requirements: At least 20 credits must be earned to receive the Statistics Minor, as specified below. No course in which a grade of C- or lower is earned may be applied to any minor in the College of Sciences. The Statistics Minor is appropriate for all students with interests in statistics and especially for those who seek careers that may be enhanced by a background in Statistics. These include, but are not limited to biology, geoscience, physics, chemistry and engineering. *Core Mathematics Course Requirements* 12 credits MATH 181 - Calculus I 4 credits MATH 182 - Calculus II 4 credits Select one of the following: MATH 330 - Linear Algebra, OR MATH 365 - Computational Linear Algebra 3 credits Select one of the following: STAT 391 - Applied Statistics for Biological Sciences STAT 411 - Statistical Methods I STAT 463 - Applied Statistics for Engineers 3 credits STAT 491 - Statistics for Scientists I Complete both of the following: STAT 413 - Statistical Experimental Design 3 credits STAT 493 - Applied Regression Analysis 3 credits Applications for Graduation for majors and minors are initiated on-line by the student in MyUNLV The Mathematics Department CDC-801 702-895-3567 The College of Sciences Advising Center, MPE-A130, 702-895-2077
