4TH SUNDAY OF EASTER – YEAR B
RESPONSORIAL PSALM
The stone rejected by the builders
has become the cornerstone.
26 APRIL 2015
I will thank you for you have given answer
and you are my saviour.
Give thanks to the Lord for he is good;
for God’s love has no end.
Give thanks to the Lord for he is good,
for God’s love has no end.
It is better to take refuge in the Lord
than to trust in people:
it is better to take refuge in the Lord
than to trust in princes.
GOSPEL ACCLAMATION
I will thank you for you have given answer
and you are my saviour.
The stone which the builders rejected
has become the corner stone.
This is the work of the Lord,
a marvel in our eyes.
EUCHARISTIC PRAYER III
Blessed in the name of the Lord
is he who comes.
We bless you from the house of the Lord;
Alleluia, alleluia!
I am the good shepherd, says the Lord;
I know my sheep, and mine know me.
Alleluia!
RECENTLY DECEASED: Francisco Lopez of
Clauscen Street, Josie Di Mase, Claudia Slaverio,
Daniela Bartucca
ANNIVERSARIES: Mollie Connell, Antonio Amalfi,
Gary Polglase, Maria Galgano, Antonio Gigliotti,
Michaele Lumicisi THE SHEPHERD MESSIAH
The gospels go to great lengths to affirm the lineage of
Jesus and associate him with the house of David, the
first great Jewish king. David began
life as a simple boy tending his
father’s flock of sheep. When the line
of kings was instigated through David
they were charged with being
‘shepherds’ of their people. However,
down through the line of kings, this
care for the people was lost and they
ceased to be ‘shepherds’. Jesus’ claim
to be the good shepherd is his claim to be in the line of
the true kings of Israel – a shepherd of the people.
–Greg Sunter
TODAY IS VOCATIONS SUNDAY
This is the World Day of Prayer for Vocations. ‘The
Good Shepherd lays down his life for his sheep …’ Today
we remember the priests of Melbourne who served as
chaplains in the First World War. See their names on
the noticeboard poster.
EASTER SERIES CONTINUES NEXT WEEK
Following on from a most successful session on
Dietrich Bonhoeffer presented by Fr Kevin Lenehan last
Wednesday evening, the next two sessions of the

Scripture scholar Br Rod Doyle. The series continues
on Wednesdays 6 May and 13 May. These gatherings
will be at 7.30pm in St Ambrose’s Community Centre.
Dr Br Rod Doyle is a a senior fellow of
Catholic Theological College and a member
of the Department of Biblical Studies. He
lectured in the New Testament and still
supervises research essays. These two
evenings will give parishioners an
opportunity to explore the origins of the
Gospels and the individuality and purpose of
each Gospel writer. All welcome!
