I pronomi di oggetto indiretto

You have learned that a direct-object pronoun can replace a
direct-object noun in a sentence. Nouns and pronouns can also
function as indirect-objects, indicating to who or for whom
something is done.
Ex.
Anne buys a present for her mother, “Her mother” is an
indirect-object.
***An indirect-object is always preceded by a or per.

0 Indirect-object pronouns precede the verb, with the exception
of loro, which always follows the verb. In everyday usage, gli
is often used instead of loro.

Did you buy eggs for the children?
--Sì, ho comprato loro delle bellissime uova!
--Sì, gli ho cmprato delle bellissime uova!
Yes, I bought them some beautiful eggs!
0 Remember that gli and le are never contracted before a verb
beginning with a vowel or h.
Ex. Le offro un tè. / Gli ho dato il regalo la vigilia di Natale
0 When indirect-object pronouns are used with the passato
prossimo, the past participle does not agree with the
pronoun.
Ex. Hai scritto alla Befana? No, non le ho ancora escritto.
Note: Direct- and indirect-object pronouns mi, ti,
ci, and vi are the same. Only lo, la, li (directobject) and gli, le, and loro (indirect-object) are
different.
