







Subject pronouns stand in for the subject.
I, You, He/She, We, They.
I went to the shops.
You bought some shoes.

The present indicative

Translates to the English present tense:
John eats a sandwich for lunch today.
I do my homework at lunchtime
You watch television when you get home.

Translates to the English ‘-ing’ form:
Robert is watching television.
I am listening to the teacher
They are dancing to the music.
Use the indicative when:

You are describing an action
that is taking place in the
present.


When you look up a verb (doing word)
in the dictionary, you will find the
infinitive version of the verb.
You need to conjugate this verb to
personalise it to the person completing
the action.
