Tourist Attractions
The town of Noto is one of the 'pearls' of culture in the
province of Syracuse. It enjoys a large influx of tourists
especially in seasons like summer and spring.

The Ancient Noto
Another important tourist destination, especially for
excursions immersed in nature, are the remains of Noto
Antica, a huge cultural and natural heritage at only 10 Km
from Noto.

The third Sunday of May, Nicolaci street becomes a charming carpet of flowers.
This is the «Infiorata», a happening which repeats every year since 1980 and is a
welcome to spring. Young people start to draw on the ground, subjects having a
common theme which changes every year according to the country chosen for
the twinning with the town of Noto. On Friday evening, people start to fill every
space with petals of different colours and other natural materials. On Saturday
morning everyone can admire it. As time goes by the «Infiorata» has become a
more and more important happening always appreciated by tourists.

In summer, besides the city of art, you can visit the many natural
seaside resorts that are close by, such as: Lido di Noto, Calabernardo,
Eloro, Vendicari natural reserve, the ponds of Cava Grande,
Marzamemi, Portopalo or Noto Antica and the mosaics of the “Villa
del Tellaro”.

The Main Monument in Noto
The city is rich in monuments in Baroque style. Of the most
beautiful monuments include the Cathedral of S. Nicolò, the
theatre, the Town Hall, which is located in front of the
Cathedral, the Church of St Domenico, the Church of Santa
Chiara and the numerous palaces.

In addition to the afore mentioned monuments, other tourist
destinations are: the Church of the Immaculate Conception which
meets immediately after the Royal Gate, the Church of the Holy
Saviour which is located near the Cathedral, the Church of S. Carlo
from whose Bell Tower you can enjoy a wonderful view.

Marzamemi is one of worldly attractions for tourists, who
entertain themselves among the many pubs or discos
outdoors and may attend numerous artistic events.

Noto Surroundings: Siracusa
Just 30 Km from Noto is Siracusa, famous Greek town, rich in
monuments such as: the Greek Theatre, the Roman
Amphitheater, the Latomie dei Cappuccini, the ear of
Dionysius, the grotta dei Cordari and the catacombs of Saint
Lucia. The most important Church of the city is the Duomo,
built on an ancient temple.

Around Noto, there are many green areas, where
tourists who want to 'dive' into nature and enjoy a
day outdoors can make excursions. Among the most
important in the area of Noto, we find: I Laghetti di
Cava Grande, Pantalica, the Ciane nature reserve.

Natural Areas far from Noto
In Sicily, there is one of the most important European
volcanoes: Etna.
Other sights are the Alcantara Gorges and the town of
Taormina which is only a few kilometres from there.

Cultural events in Noto
Noto is also Known for its cultural events such as: «Volalibro», «OltreNoto»,
'The Festival of Flowers', “Documentaria”, ‘Noto in Sali ... ta', 'organized to
entertain both citizens and tourists. A very much felt tradition in Noto is the
feast of St. Corrado, the Patron Saint of the city, which attracts both tourists
and faithful twice a year: on 19 February and the last Sunday in August. The
Silver urn of the Saint is carried in procession through the streets of the city to
make it then return to the Cathedral with a spectacular ceremony.
