VERONA ..A JUMP IN THE HISTORY! Ponte Pietra A beatiful stone bridge built in the 1st century B.C. During the World War II, the Germans destroyed all the bridges in Verona but some of them (like this one) were restored. Juliet’s House Actually long time ago, in Verona, there was a family called Capello and it was very rich, because it was a merchant family specialised in wool and textiles. We don’t know, if they had a daughter called Juliet, but a balcony is still there. THE SCALIGERIS’ GRAVES The Scaligeris’ Graves were built in the XVI century A.D. by Dalla Scala family. They’re composed by Cansignorio, Mastino II and Cangrande’s graves. They’re near Piazza dei Signori. Under Cangrande’s grave there is a chapel that was of property of Dalla Scala family, now it’s free for the public as well. Currently the ladder is the symbol of Verona and its football team . OLD ROMAN FORUM In Italian, Piazza delle Erbe, it was the Roman forum and it was the political and economical center. The most important monuments in this square are the statue of “Madonna Verona”, the Town Hall palace and the Lamberti tower. THE ARENA The Arena is the biggest building in Italy, more than the Colosseum. It was built in the 1st century A.D. by the Romans and in the past there were fights between men and lions.
