On REQUEST Interlibrary Loan, Resource Sharing, and Document Delivery Services
The American University in Cairo Library November 2003 On REQUEST Interlibrary Loan, Resource Sharing, and Document Delivery Services This is a reminder sent out once a month to each department to update you about our document delivery services. If you need a journal article or a chapter from a book not available in the AUC Library you can submit an online request form available at: http://library.aucegypt.edu/dept/docdel/index.htm. This service is free for faculty. Before submitting your requests, please make sure to check the Library’s online catalog and E-Journals A-Z to see if the article is available either in print or online. Articles are received electronically via Ariel software, a product designed to manage the scanning, transmission and receipts of documents over the Internet between libraries and document suppliers. Normal turnaround time is within two weeks. Faculty Document Delivery Requests Sept-Oct 2003 Submitting requests: We would like to encourage patrons to submit their requests online for faster service. However, print forms are available at the Reference Desk on the first floor of the Library. Delivery: Faculty do not need to come to the library to pick up their requested articles. As of last summer (2003), we started using the intercampus mail to send articles directly to the offices of all Faculty members. In addition, we are investigating ways to send your documents to you electronically. An announcement will be forthcoming when this is available. Dissertations: The Interlibrary Loan Department of AUC cannot obtain copies of dissertations from other institutions. We will forward all requests to the Collection Management Department who will attempt to purchase a copy for the AUC library collection. If you think a dissertation is needed in the library, please submit a request to Christiane Sidawy, Head of Acquisitions, e-mail: [email protected].
