Roles of Lead NBCTs
Lead NBCTs are the site-based leaders of the Montgomery County National Board
Certified Teacher (MC NBCT) Network. Lead NBCTs are advocates for the improvement
of teaching and learning through the Five Core Propositions of the National Board for
Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) as well as for the teaching profession itself.
The Lead NBCT is an NBCT who:
 serves for one year, but can be continued if agreeable to all parties.
 has earned the respect of those in and outside of her/his building.
 understands and accepts his/her role as a leader.
Responsibilities of Lead NBCTs


Provide information regularly, either during staff meetings, NB informational
meetings, and/or make information available on Private.
Advocate for the needs of candidates in their school (or nearby).

Advocate for and communicate with other NBCTs.

Involve other NBCTs in their school to support school based recruitment and
support.

Attend the annual Lead NBCT Summit at MCEA.
