BOUTIQUE ITALIAN WINERIES
The expression, “boutique wineries” I heard it for the first time while visiting
Australia, to describe those wine cellars that did not produce tens, sometimes
hundreds, of millions of bottles and that had a more hand made style of grape
growing and wine production.
Italy is a country where “boutique Wineries” are very common and represent
the vast majority of the overall wine making.
At times, however they don’t succeed in getting known, mostly because of the
sparseness of the production and also for the fact that if you are small it is
difficult to cope alone in the world. Thus we thought of joining together some
of these wineries, from different Italian regions in order to give an idea of a
different “ Italy del vino”, made by producers perhaps not earth shattering but
full of surprises and great wines. Small wineries thrive, we may say!
The second tour will visit two different European cities: Hamburg and
Copenhagen. Both of them are very important markets for wine in general and
for Italian wine in particular. The tour will feature 29 of the most valid “Italian
boutique wineries”........and you can bet, it will be a success!!!
Il termine “boutique wineries” l’ho sentito pronunciare per la prima volta in
Australia, per definire quelle cantine che non producevano decine, talvolta
centinaia, di milioni di bottiglie e che avevano uno stile di viticoltura e di vinificazione più artigianale.
L’Italia è un paese dove le “boutique wineries” sono di casa e rappresentano
la stragrande maggioranza del panorama vitivinicolo. A volte però non riescono a farsi notare, proprio per l’esiguità della produzione e per il fatto che se si
è piccoli è difficile affrontare da soli il mondo.
Così abbiamo pensato di metterne insieme un po’, provenienti da molte regioni
italiane, proprio per dare l’idea di un’Italia del vino diversa, composta da nomi
magari non altisonanti, ma piena di sorprese e di vini fantastici. Piccoli vini
crescono, si potrebbe dire. Questa seconda edizione del tour toccherà due città
europee: Amburgo e Copenhagen. Due mercati importantissimi per il vino in
genere e per il vino italiano in particolare. Protagoniste 29 validissime “boutique
wineries” italiane. E sarà un successo, c’è da scommetterci.
