www.hcm2.com No 4‐01 4‐02 4‐03 4‐04 4‐05 4‐06 4‐07 4‐08 ITEM Topic of the meeting: To discuss the final schematic design including the site modifications, floor plan modifications and revision to the exterior elevations Site Plan discussion reviewed modifications of the bus loop to the south end of the site with staff and visitor parking to the north. The service access along the North side of the building will be utilized primarily for trash and recycling with the majority of deliveries utilizing hand trucks. Proposed elevations of the site topography are now indicated on the plan and were reviewed as related to adjacent property with the site section provided. The question was raised asking the dimension from Batchellors Forest Road to the proposed building in comparison to the existing Farquhar MS. The existing MS is setback roughly 150’ from Batchellors Forest, while the proposed is roughly 250’ ‐300’. Reviewing the floor plans indicated that all comments had been incorporated satisfactorily. Those revisions included:  Staff Workroom now separate from the administration allowing guidance to be directly adjacent to the administration suite with Guidance and Administration having separate entry points.  Testing is now incorporated into the administration,  A toilet room has been added adjacent to the entry of the Media Center on level 2 on the public side of the security doors,  Locker rooms now have two exits each.  Stair to the lowest level has flipped to the north side of the opening allowing for access to the toilet rooms and elevator from the public side of the security doors, Further review of the Exterior Elevations discussed the following revisions:
 The west entry/ main entry was reviewed, specifically, the round stair configuration. HCM is now showing a square configuration as a means of cost savings. The round stair configuration will be carried as an Add‐ Alternate. The square stair configuration was met with approval.  The heavy timber “bridge” entry was again reviewed to clarify the intention that this timber frame actually support the pedestrian foot bridge.  Review of the terraced condition on the site at the front of the building provides two opportunities: a solution to storm water management and to act as an outdoor classroom.  The North elevation of the building will be developed and made available for review as only partial views were presented. For specific building face orientations that are challenged by sunlight, glazing solutions will look to incorporate fritt glass, tinted glass and the use of shades. As a wrap up to the presentation, several attendees commented that the nature of the architecture was successful in being compatible and appropriate with the surroundings.
