No ITEM 3‐01 Topic of the meeting: To discuss the design going forward on the park site next door to the school. 3‐02 The site plan was reviewed. The plan has been revised: building has been moved South; a larger tree buffer has been added at North property line; parking and bus loop have been switched. It was discussed how far back the school is from the road and views to the school from the park site through the trees. 3‐03 Trash and recycling are stored inside the building and moved out at time of collection only. 3‐04 The floor plans were reviewed. It is preferred to locate Guidance within Administration. Suggested to switch Staff Lounge with Guidance. 3‐05 The proposed locker bays were reviewed. This arrangement allows better supervision and more windows from the classrooms into the corridor. 3‐06 The exterior design was reviewed. The view from Batchellor’s Forest Rd south of the site will be softened by trees along the stream buffer and new trees planted along the road. Proposed design provides a building that is consistent with a rural, rustic community. Design was well received. Like the rustic look. 3‐07 MCPS stated that Construction Documents are scheduled to be completed Fall 2013; construction summer 2014 to summer of 2016. 3‐08 HVAC will include rooftop units that will be screened from view. Site lighting will be cutoff type so light does not affect neighbors. 3‐09 Site will require handicap access. 3‐10 Porous paving will be used where possible. 3‐11 Trellis next to Media Center to be removed. 3‐12 A staff member requested the weather vane depict the school mascot.
2‐13 The guard rail above the open stair should allow for supervision of that space from below, glass preferred . 2‐14 The western facing vestibule glass should include shading devices, i.e. translucent glass, metal panel. 2‐15 Library‐ perforated shades could be provided to shade the western glass and still allow vision through the shade. 2‐16 The heavy timber entry frame will have a roof. 2‐17 Next Meeting: Meeting #4: Thursday, June 28, 2012; 7:00 – 8:30 PM Page 2 of 3 www.hcm2.com These meeting notes were prepared by Hord Coplan Macht, Inc for the purpose of recording the information covered during this meeting.
