A new concept of pure air in the kitchen
Today the natural conditions of the air have changed, with an imbalance of the electrical charges where positively charged ions which generate physiological discomfort prevail. Also, the number of negatively charged ions (which favour
environmental wellness) is lowered by central heating, air conditioning, smoke and static electricity, therefore most
people breathe air which is low in ions. Today Falmec offers a new technology applied to its hoods which allows the
recreation, through the Controlled Bipolar Ionisation technology, atmospheric ions which not only lower unpleasant
odours, but re-establish optimum ion balance, with significant benefit to wellness and health.

Thanks to the ions generated by the Falmec E.Ion® System, the air is purified and treated, neutralising all polluting
agents such as bacteria, viruses, dust mites, pollen, spores, dust, foul odours, cigarette and cooking smoke, making
it excellent for a healthier home life.
Technology certified
The process of distributing ions into the air by waterfalls, sea waves and lightning, and which is perceived in the air
high up on mountains, is obtained by Falmec through a bipolar electrical field applied to the air flow generated by the
hood. In particular the ionization permits a decrease of odours, eliminating the organic molecules suspended in the air.
What’s more, it neutralises the volatile organic composites, transforming them into CO2 and water, inactivating viruses,
bacteria and allergens, moulds, fungi, spores and tobacco smoke. The ionization feature can be activated independently of the need to lower odours produced by cooking of foods, for the purpose of purifying the environment to
obtain clean and wholesome air without any spreading of ozone into the domestic environment and without having to
use chemical or UV technology products. The efficiency of the Falmec E.Ion® System technology have been demonstrated by specialized olfactometry laboratories.

More than 70% reduction of odours
Odour is a subjective sense, both with regard to intensity and for the quality of the olfactory stimulus. To test the effectiveness of the ionisation system, studies and tests were conducted on various types of food and cooking at the
‘Laboratorio Olfattometria Dinamica’ (Dynamic Olfactometry Laboratory), of the University of Udine and Milan, following
standard UNI 13725:2004, taking different air samples.
The testing showed more than 70% decrease of odours with peaks of up to 95%.
Leaf Sensor
The sensor in the E.Ion® products detects the presence of volatile organic composites, odorous gases, for example
formaldehyde, cigarette smoke, ammonia and all polluting agents in the air. This information is translated into the leaf
colour which gradually turns from yellow to green as the conditions improve.
We implemented yet another feature which optimises the potential of the ionisation. If the sensor detects a drop in the
environmental air quality, the hood activates, purifying and sanitising the air until the original balance is re-established.
The beneficial effects of ions on human biochemistry
Ions are also called the “vitamins of the air”. In particular, they have an effect on human biochemistry, causing improved
moods, concentration and other important health advantages. Once they reach our blood, ions produce biochemical
reactions which increase serotonin levels, contributing to relieving depression, getting over stress and increasing our
energy during the day In nature pure air is made up of a mixture of ions with a ratio of 1,200 positive ions for every
1,000 negative ions in every cubic centimetre of air.
This “optimum ratio” which provides vitality, energy and a feeling of wellness, is re-established thanks to the Falmec
E.Ion® System technology.
The hood has no more restrictions and frees creativity
Without pipes, external exhaust, or energy waste
E.ion® System overcomes installation problems by eliminating architectural restrictions, such as pipes for evacuation
of smoke and odours, with masonry works or adaptations, therefore removing any additional costs. The expulsion
towards the outside of stale air results in a dispersion of heat in the winter, and of cool conditioned air in the summer.
Energy savings are substantial when comparing E.ion® System to a conventional hood, which at maximum power can
extract up to 800mc/h and recycle the air in the kitchen up to 25 times an hour. The total freedom of positioning the
hood makes any design solution possible in terms of displacement of the operational cooking area and therefore the
furnishings. The aesthetic impact is improved and everything becomes tailor fit for individual needs.
