Geremia - Jeremiah
La parola del Signore mi fu rivolta in
questi termini:«Prima che io ti formassi
nel grembo, ti ho conosciuto, e prima
che tu uscissi dal seno, ti ho santificato;
profeta per le genti ti ho costituito».
(Ger 1, 4-5)
A word of Yahweh came to me, "Even
before I formed you in the womb I
have known you; even before you
were born I had set you apart, and
appointed you a prophet to the
nations!" (Jer 1,4-5)
Quanto a te, cingi i tuoi fianchi: lèvati e
riferisci loro tutto ciò che ti ordinerò.
Non spaventarti dinanzi a loro, altrimenti
ti farò tremare io dinanzi a loro. Io,
dunque, ecco: ti rendo oggi come città
fortificata, come colonna di ferro e come
muraglia di bronzo contro tutto il paese,
contro i re di Giuda e i prìncipi suoi,
contro i suoi sacerdoti e contro il popolo
del paese.Essi combatteranno contro di
te, ma non ti sopraffaranno, perché con
te sono io, per salvarti.(Ger 1, 17-19)
But you, get ready for action; stand up
and say to them all that I command you.
Be not scared of them or I will scare you
in their presence! See, I will make you a
fortified city, a pillar of iron with walls of
bronze, against all the nations, against
the kings and princes of Judah, against
the priests and the people of the land.
They will fight against you but shall not
overcome you, for I am with you to
rescue you - it is Yahweh who speaks."

In quel tempo Gesù
cominciò a dire: «Oggi si è
adempiuta questa scrittura
per voi che mi ascoltate».
Tutti gli rendevano
testimonianza ed erano
stupiti per le parole piene
di grazia che pronunciava.
E si chiedevano: «Ma
costui non è il figlio di
Giuseppe?». (Lc 4, 21-22)
Then he said to them, "Today
these prophetic words come true
even as you listen." All agreed
with him and were lost in wonder,
while he kept on speaking of the
grace of God. Nevertheless they
asked, "Who is this but Joseph's
son?"
(Lk 4, 21-22)
Ed egli rispose: «Sono sicuro che mi
citerete il proverbio: "Medico, cura te
stesso". Tutto ciò che abbiamo udito che è
avvenuto a Cafarnao, fallo anche qui, nella
tua patria». Ed aggiunse: «In verità vi dico:
nessun profeta è bene accetto nella sua
patria. (Lc 4, 23-24)
So he said,
"Doubtless
you will quote
me the
saying:
Doctor, heal
yourself! Do
here in your
town what
they say you
did in
Capernaum."
Jesus added,
"No prophet
is honored in
his own
country.
(Lk 4, 23-24)
Vi dico inoltre: c'erano molte vedove in Israele al tempo del profeta Elia, quando
per tre anni e sei mesi non cadde alcuna goccia di pioggia ed una grande carestia
dilagò per tutto il paese; a nessuna di loro però fu mandato il profeta Elia, ma solo
ad una vedova di Sarepta, nella regione di Sidone. (Lc 4, 25-26)
Truly, I say to you, there were
many widows in Israel in the days
of Elijah, when the heavens
withheld rain for three years and
six months and a great famine
came over the whole land. Yet
Elijah was not sent to any of
them, but to a widow of
Zarephath, in the country of
Sidon. (Lk 4, 25-26)
E c'erano molti lebbrosi in Israele ai tempi del profeta
Eliseo; eppure a nessuno di loro fu dato il dono della
guarigione, ma solo a Naaman il siro». Sentendo queste
cose, coloro che erano presenti nella sinagoga furono presi
dall'ira e, alzatisi, lo cacciarono fuori della città e lo
condussero fino in cima al monte sul quale era
situata la loro città per farlo precipitare giù.
Egli però, passando in mezzo a loro, se ne
andò. (Lc 4, 27-30)
There were also many lepers
in Israel in the time of Elisha,
the prophet, and no one was
healed except Naaman, the
Syrian." On hearing these
words, the whole assembly
became indignant.They rose up
and brought him out of the
town, to the edge of the hill on
which Nazareth is built,
intending to throw him down
the cliff. But he passed through
their midst and went his way.
(Lk 4, 27-30)
GESU' CACCIATO
DALLA SINAGOGA
Come il profeta Geremia, non
dobbiamo aver paura di
annunciare la Parola di Dio alla
generazione di questo secolo,
perché il Signore è con noi e ci
sostiene sempre nelle difficoltà.
La carità [1], di cui in modo
stupendo ci parla S.Paolo, è alla
base della vita cristiana e ci rende
perfetti discepoli di Gesù.
Gesù a Nazaret non viene
riconosciuto come Messia;
rifiutare Cristo significa rifiutare le
Sacre Scritture ma chi crede in
Cristo ha la vita eterna.
Nell'accogliere Gesù come
Redentore sta la salvezza di ogni
uomo.

JESUS THROWN OUT
OF THE SYNAGOGUE
In the footsteps of the Prophet
Jeremiah, we must not fear our
having to announce the God’s Word to
the generation of this century because
the Lord is with us and always
provides us with support at difficult
times.
Love[1], as so marvelously defined by
St. Paul, is the foundation of Christian
life and through it we become perfect
disciples of Jesus.
In Nazareth, Jesus is not recognized
as the Messiah; refuting Him means
refuting the Sacred Scriptures yet
believing in Christ ensures eternal life.
Mankind’s salvation lies in accepting
Jesus as the Savior.
