Aiutami ad essere testimone autentico del tuo Amore tra coloro che
praticano il materialismo, l’ateismo, l’arroganza ideologica…
Dona la gioia della Risurrezione a coloro la cui vita
è sempre quaresima...
Dear Lord, for how long shall You permit some of us humans to
ignore, refuse, deny, mock and violate Your sublime sacrifice of Love?
Dear Lord, help me be a genuine witness of Your Love amongst those
intent in practicing materialism, atheism, ideological arrogance and
more of the same..
Lord, please give the joy of the Resurrection to those who dedicate
their lives to a never-ending Lent.

Allora Gesù andò con loro in
un podere, chiamato
Getsèmani, e disse ai
discepoli: «Sedetevi qui,
mentre io vado là a
pregare». E presi con sé
Pietro e i due figli di
Zebedèo, cominciò a
provare tristezza e
angoscia. Disse loro: «La
mia anima è triste fino alla
morte; restate qui e vegliate
con me». E avanzatosi un
poco, si prostrò con la faccia
a terra e pregava dicendo:
«Padre mio, se è possibile,
passi da me questo calice!
Però non come voglio io, ma
come vuoi tu!».
(Mt 26, 36-39)
Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to his disciples,
“Sit here while I go over to pray.” He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee
along with him, and he began to be filled with anguish and distress. And he said to
them, “My soul is filled with sorrow even to death. Remain here and stay awake
with me.” He went a little farther and fell to the ground, with his face touching the
earth, and prayed, “Father, if it is possible, take this cup away from me. Yet not
what I want, but what you want.” (Mt 26, 36-39)
Il traditore aveva dato loro questo segnale dicendo: «Quello che bacerò, è lui;
arrestatelo!».E subito si avvicinò a Gesù e disse: «Salve, Rabbì!». E lo baciò. E
Gesù gli disse: «Amico, per questo sei qui!». Allora si fecero avanti e misero le
mani addosso a Gesù e lo arrestarono.(Mt 26, 48-50)
The traitor had arranged a signal for them: “The one I kiss, he is the man; arrest
him.” And he went directly to Jesus and said, “Good evening, Master” and he
gave him a kiss. But Jesus said to him, “Friend, do what you came for.” Then
they laid hold of Jesus and arrested him. ..(Mt 26, 48-50)
Allora il sommo sacerdote gli
disse: «Ti scongiuro, per il Dio
vivente, perché ci dica se tu sei il
Cristo, il Figlio di Dio». «Tu l'hai
detto, gli rispose Gesù, anzi io vi
dico: d'ora innanzi vedrete il
Figlio dell'uomo seduto alla
destra di Dio, e venire sulle nubi
del cielo». Allora il sommo
sacerdote si stracciò le vesti
dicendo: «Ha bestemmiato!
Perché abbiamo ancora bisogno
di testimoni? Ecco, ora avete
udito la bestemmia; che ve ne
pare?». E quelli risposero: «E'
reo di morte!». Allora gli
sputarono in faccia e lo
schiaffeggiarono; altri lo
bastonavano, dicendo:
«Indovina, Cristo! Chi è che ti ha
percosso?». (Mt 26, 63-68)
So the High Priest said to him, “In the name of the living God, I command you to
tell us: Are you the Messiah, the Son of God?” Jesus answered, “It is just as you
say. I tell you more: from now on, you will see the Son of Man seated at the right
hand of the Most Powerful God and coming on the clouds of heaven.” Then the
High Priest tore his clothes, saying, “He has blasphemed. What more evidence do
we need? You have just heard these blasphemous words. What is your decision?”
They answered, “He must die!” Then they began to spit on Jesus and slap
him while others hit him with their fists, saying, “Messiah, prophesy! Who hit
you?” (Mt 26, 63-68)
Gesù intanto

davanti al
governatore, e il
governatore
l'interrogò
dicendo: «Sei tu
il re dei
Giudei?». Gesù
rispose «Tu lo
dici». E mentre
lo accusavano i
sommi sacerdoti
e gli anziani, non
rispondeva nulla.
Allora Pilato gli
disse: «Non
senti quante
cose attestano
contro di
te?».Ma Gesù
non gli rispose
neanche una
parola, con
grande
meraviglia del
governatore.
(Mt 27, 11-14)
Jesus stood
before the
governor who
questioned him,
“Are you the
King of the
Jews?” Jesus
answered, “You
say so.” The
chief priests and
the Elders
accused him, but
he made no
answer. Pilate
said to him, “Do
you hear all the
charges they
bring against
you?” But he did
not answer even
a single
question, so that
the governor
wondered.
(Mt 27, 11-14)
Allora i soldati del governatore condussero Gesù nel pretorio e gli radunarono attorno
tutta la coorte. Spogliatolo, gli misero addosso un manto scarlatto e, intrecciata una
corona di spine, gliela posero sul capo, con una canna nella destra; poi mentre gli si
inginocchiavano davanti, lo schernivano: «Salve, re dei Giudei!». (Mt 27, 27-29)
The Roman soldiers took Jesus into the palace of the governor and the whole troop
gathered around him. They stripped him and dressed him in a purple military
cloak. Then, twisting a crown of thorns, they forced it onto his head, and placed a
reed in his right hand. They knelt before Jesus and mocked him, saying, “Long life
to the King of the Jews!” (Mt 27, 27-29)

They spat on
him, took the
reed from his
hand and
struck him on
the head with
it. When they
had finished
mocking him,
they pulled
off the purple
cloak and
dressed him
in his own
clothes again,
and led him
out to be
crucified.

Essi allora

Gòlgota,
dove lo
crocifissero e
con lui altri
due, uno da
una parte e

dall'altra, e
Gesù nel
mezzo.

There he was
crucified and

side,

Dopo questo,
Gesù, sapendo
che ogni cosa
era stata ormai
compiuta, disse
per adempiere
la Scrittura:
«Ho sete». Vi
era lì un vaso
pieno d'aceto;
posero perciò
una spugna
imbevuta di
aceto in cima a
una canna e
gliela
accostarono
alla bocca. E
dopo aver
ricevuto
l'aceto, Gesù
disse: «Tutto è
compiuto!». E,
chinato il capo,
spirò.
(Gv 19, 28-30)
With that Jesus
knew all was
now finished
and he said, I
am thirsty, to
fulfil what was
written in
Scripture. A jar
full of bitter
wine stood
there; so,
putting a
sponge soaked
in the wine on a
twig of hyssop,
they raised it to
his lips. Jesus
took the wine
and said, “It is
accomplished.”
Then he bowed
his head and
gave up the
spirit.
(Jn 19, 28-30)
Essi presero allora
il corpo di Gesù, e
lo avvolsero in
bende insieme con
oli aromatici,
com'è usanza
seppellire per i
Giudei. Ora, nel
luogo dove era
stato crocifisso, vi
era un giardino e
nel giardino un
sepolcro nuovo, nel
quale nessuno era
stato ancora
deposto. Là
dunque deposero
Gesù, a motivo
della Preparazione
dei Giudei, poiché
quel sepolcro era
vicino.
(Gv 19, 40-42)
They took the body
of Jesus and
wrapped it in linen
cloths with the
spices, following
the burial custom
of the Jews. There
was a garden in
the place where
Jesus had been
crucified, and, in
the garden, a new
tomb in which no
one had ever been
laid. As the tomb
was very near,
they buried Jesus
there because they
had no time left
before the Jewish
Preparation Day.
