FORWARD MARKETS COMMISSION, MUMBAI
Highlights/ Important Developments for the fortnight from 16.2.2013 to 28.2.2013
•
Total value of trading at the Commodity Exchanges during the fortnight, 16th February, 2013 to 28th February,
2013 was `6,73,684.46 crore. The cumulative value of trade from 1stApril, 2012 upto 28th February, 2013 during
the financial year 2012-13 was `157,82,840.14 crore. The corresponding figures for the previous year were
` 6, 91,082.50 crore and ` 166, 23,580.40 crore respectively.
•
The Ministry, on 14th February 2013 (received on 19th ) conveyed its approval for renewal of the recognition of
Chamber of Commerce (COC), Hapur in respect of forward contracts in Rapeseed /Mustard Seed for a period of
five years from 1st March 2013 to 28th February, 2018 (both days inclusive).
•
The Commission, on 18th February, 2013, recommended to the Ministry to renew the recognition of the
Surendranagar Cotton Oil & Oilseeds Association Ltd., Surendranagar, in respect of forward contracts in Kapas
for a period of five years from 1.04.2013 to 31.03.2018.

The Commission on 18th February, 2013 directed NMCE to amend Article 138 (i) of the Articles of Association of
the Exchange, by duly replacing the word “Due date Rates Committee” in place of “Daily rate Committee” and take
steps to amend the Bye-laws / Rules for amendment of the same, if applicable.
•
The Ministry, on 25th February 2013 conveyed its approval for renewal of the recognition of National Board of
Trade (NBOT), Indore in respect of forward contracts in Soybean Seed, Refined Soy Oil and Soy meal for a
period of one year from 1st March 2013 to 28th February, 2014 (both days inclusive).
•
The Commission, on 28th February, 2013 renewed the registration of National Board of Trade (NBOT), Indore for
the period from 1st March 2013 to 28th February, 2014 (both days inclusive) for conducting futures trading in
Soybean Seed, Refined Soy Oil and Soy meal.
•
In view of the rising trends in Mentha oil contracts, especially in February 2013 contract traded at MCX, the
Commission agreed to the proposal of the MCX and approved the following regulatory measurers:(i) Members /
clients are not allowed to take fresh position in the 28th February 2013 contract of Mentha oil w.e.f. 23rd
February, 2013 and (ii) Imposed a special margin of 20 % in cash on the long position in 28th February 2013
contract w.e.f. the beginning of trading day 25th February 2013.
