FORWARD MARKETS COMMISSION, MUMBAI
Highlights/ Important Developments for the fortnight from 1.6.2011 to 15.6.2011
•
Total value of trading at the Commodity Exchanges during the fortnight, 1st June, 2011 to 15th June, 2011 was
Rs.6,01,915.54 crore. The cumulative value of trade from 1stApril, 2011 upto 15th June, 2011 for the financial year
2011-12 was Rs.31,99,842.30 crore. The corresponding figures for the previous year were Rs. 4,36,673.96 crore
and Rs. 20,23,697.55 crore respectively.
•
The following meetings were organized by the Forward Markets Commission during the fortnight:(i)
Meeting of select members of the five National Exchanges from the South Zone was held at Bangalore on
3rd June, 2011. The meeting was attended by the officers of the Commission and senior officers of the five
National Exchanges.
(ii)
Meeting of the Commission and five National Exchanges with the stakeholders of the Price Dissemination
Project was held at Bangalore on 3rd June, 2011. This meeting was for the States/UTs of Karnataka, Andhra
Pradesh, Tamilnadu, Kerala, Pondicherry, Andaman and Nikobar, Lakshadweep. Representatives of the Ministry of
Agriculture, Department of Agriculture and Cooperation and AGMARKNET also attended the meeting.

Meeting of select members of the five National Exchanges from the West Zone was held at Mumbai on
10th June, 2011.
(iv)
Meeting of the Commission and five National Exchanges with the stakeholders of the Price Dissemination
Project was held at Mumbai on 10th June, 2011. This meeting was for the States/Uts of Maharashtra, Gujarat,
Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Goa, Daman & Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Representatives of the Ministry of
Agriculture, Department of Agriculture and Cooperation and AGMARKNET also attended the meeting
•
The Commission has directed the Exchanges to advise the Members to collect margins from their clients in such
forms which are highly liquid and are owned by the clients.
•
The Commission has appointed Dr. Vijay Kumar Gupta as Independent Director on the Board of Directors of
National Board of Trade Ltd., Indore for a period up to 31/03/2012 or co-terminus with the period of recognition
of the Exchange, whichever is earlier from the date of issue of the letter, under section 6 (2) (b) of the Forward
Contracts (Regulation) Act, 1952.
•
The Commission has also appointed Dr. Madhu Vij and Dr. B.C. Barah as Independent Directors on the Board of
Directors of Chamber of Commerce, Hapur for a period up to 31/03/2013 or co-terminus with the period of
recognition of the Exchange, whichever is earlier from the date of issue of the letter, under section 6 (2) (b) of
the Forward Contracts (Regulation) Act, 1952.
