FORWARD MARKETS COMMISSION, MUMBAI
Highlights/ Important Developments for the fortnight from 1.7.2011 to 15.7.2011
•
Total value of trading at the Commodity Exchanges during the fortnight, 1st July, 2011 to 15th July, 2011 was
Rs.7,05,007.23 crore. The cumulative value of trade from 1 stApril, 2011 upto 15th July, 2011 for the financial year
2011-12 was Rs.45,34,237.88 crore. The corresponding figures for the previous year were Rs. 4, 15,215.65 crore
and Rs. 28, 71,202.91 crore respectively.
•
The Commission has appointed Dr. M. Mathisekaran, Economic Adviser, Mr. P. N. Tiwari, Director, and Dr. K. M.
Shivakumar, Director as the representative of the Central Government on the Board of Directors of i) Indian
Commodity Exchange Limited (ICEX), Mumbai, ii) National Multi Commodity Exchange of India Ltd., (NMCE)
Ahmedabad, and iii) National Board of Trade (NBOT), Indore, respectively for the period from 15th July, 2011 up
to 31st March, 2012.
•
The Commission has appointed Dr. Pratapsinh Chauhan as Independent Director on the Board of Directors of
Rajkot Commodity Exchange Limited, Rajkot for a period from 12.07.2011 up to 31.03.2013 or co-terminus with
the period of recognition of the Exchange whichever is earlier, under section 6 (2) (b) of the Forward Contracts
(Regulation) Act, 1952.
