XXXIII DOMENICA DEL TEMPO ORDINARIO
SIAMO invitati in questa domenica del tempo ordinario a riflettere su come viviamo il tempo. Il discorso di Gesù, (Vangelo) infatti, non
intende fissare il nostro sguardo su ciò che accadrà alla fine della storia, ma sul nostro presente, invitandoci a interpretarlo con uno
sguardo diverso, per riconoscervi la vicinanza del Figlio dell’uomo. La storia di ogni tempo, anche del nostro tempo, ci mette sotto gli
occhi segni di morte e di dissoluzione. Dentro un mondo che muore possiamo riconoscere il segno del fico: “Quando vedrete accadere
queste cose, sappiate che egli è alle porte “. Quando vediamo gli eventi drammatici che caratterizzano la storia, dobbiamo rimanere certi
che il Signore si avvicina con la potenza della sua misericordia salvifica.
Tutto passa, ma non passa la parola di Dio e la sua promessa di vita. Quella promessa che ci consegna oggi il profeta Daniele nella Prima
Lettura: “In quel tempo sarà salvato il tuo popolo”. Cristo infatti, ci ricorda la lettera agli Ebrei (II Lettura), porrà tutti i suoi nemici,
inclusa la morte, sotto i suoi piedi. Con il suo unico sacrificio Gesù ristabilisce la piena comunione degli esseri umani con Dio. Fr Luca

33rd SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Recent times have provided horrendous tragedies throughout the world: tsunamis, earthquakes, hurricanes, civil wars
and other horrific events. Reading Daniel and then hearing Jesus speak about the end times, we do get the strong
feeling that history has been, and constantly will be, plagued by what the prophet calls “a time of anguish” and Jesus
calls “a time of suffering.” Most of these signs are caused by nature and, however fearful they are, none should be
considered as fateful or, even less so, as a punishment from God in anger.
Nowadays we have been made sensitive to the fact that nature alone is not to blame. We too have our share of
responsibility in the dramatic changes in nature and climate. We too are responsible or complicit in the mistrust
between religions, races and countries that fuels conflicts.
Nevertheless, both Daniel and Jesus emphasize not the dark side of human history but the bright side of God’s saving
plan. The end times lie in the hands of God who sends out the archangel Michael to protect his people when persecuted
and, ultimately, Jesus, “ ‘the Son of Man coming in clouds’ with great power and glory.” When contemplating the future
of humankind, Christians are never to yield to fatality or fear. For do we not wait in joyful hope for the coming of our

BAPTISM PREPARATION
The next Baptism Preparation Course will be on
Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at 7 PM in the
basement of the Santa Maria Goretti Community Centre.
Both parents and godparents are required to attend. Let

Coordinators Larry & Eugenia Kowalczyk in the conduct

2016 CATECHISM CLASSES
Registration Open
Registration is now open for our Pre-School, First
Communion and Confirmation preparation
classes for 2016. Classes will start on January 10,
2016. We have a very good reputation for preparing
our children for these precious sacraments, and we
encourage all parents with children wishing to receive
their First Holy Communion and Confirmation to
register. The parish is also offering pre-school
catechism classes for children between the ages of 4-6
years. Please register your children by calling the
parish office at (780) 422-8304. Registration forms
may be picked up at the Parish Office. They may also
be
downloaded
from
the
Parish
website,
www.smgoretti.org.
Parents and candidates are also requested to meet
with Fr. George at the parish office. Fr. George would
like to meet with all of you in the evenings.

at Santa Maria Goretti Parish
The Santa Maria Goretti Parish invites those who
would like to journey into learning and
understanding more the Catholic faith and to
deepen their relationship with God, to join the RCIA
program of the Parish which starts this Fall. The
RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is the
entry point for many into the Catholic faith
community and into a deeper relationship with God

The CFIC (Sons of the Immaculate Conception)
Community of our pastor Fr. George in India is
taking care of more than 250 children who are either
physically or mentally challenged, poor, abandoned
or orphaned. You, too, can be a part of this Great
Mission.

Nel 1857 padre Monti fonda la Congregazione dei Figli
dell'Immacolata Concezione con il fine di prestare
assistenza sanitaria e supporto spirituale ai bisognosi.
i Figli dell'Immacolata Concezione sono "credenti in
Dio, battezzati nel nome della Trinità, consacrati di
nuovo in speciale modo a Dio nel segno dell'Immacolata,
per una missione di carità. Questa si esemplifica nel
prendersi cura del malato "poverello di Cristo";
nell'accogliere il ragazzo in difficoltà e promuovere lo
sviluppo integrale.
The CFIC Congregation
In 1857, Luigi Maria Monti, a consecrated layman and a
brother, founded small communities throughout the
region of Rome, Italy where men served in hospitals and
as travelling nurses to scattered, impoverished farmers
of the area. In 1882 they expanded their mission and
founded orphanages with attached schools. Eventually
the Sons of the Immaculate Conception (CFIC) was
established within the Church as a Congregation of
Religious Brothers and Priests dedicated to the care and
medical assistance of the sick and to the shelter and
education of needy young people.

Prayer for Vocations
O God, Father of all Mercies, Provider of a bountiful Harvest, send Your Graces upon those You have called to
gather the fruits of Your labor; preserve and strengthen them in their lifelong service of you. Open the hearts of
Your children that they may discern Your Holy Will; inspire in them a love and desire to surrender themselves to
serving others in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ.
Teach all Your faithful to follow their respective paths in life guided by Your Divine Word and Truth. Through
the intercession of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary, all the Angels, and Saints, humbly hear our prayers and grant
Your Church's needs, through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
